What is Turkey like for family holidays? Looking at the large hotel / resorts to keep the kids entertained but have some concerns about the, err, culture
I went to Icmeler (just by Mamaris) last year. Very good, no culture problems. Plenty of excursions and quite cheap. An all day boat trip cost £10, but they will sell you water (not allowed to take your own) and the food is salty, makes you drink more water......
Not sure what it's like for families as it was just me and my girlfriend.
Went to Olu Deniz couple of years ago, lovely place, smaller than your main places such as bodrum/marmaris etc. people were very friendly and it is a family orientated place with lots of places to eat/drink etc. it is very hot this time of year though as mentioned before.
Depending on budget try Lykia world - all inclusive resort with absolutely everything you could wish for.
Avoid , although a Lovely Country , Turkish blokes are some of the vilest going went to Izmir 3 years ago, if you like the locals harassing your Mrs and daughter (10 at the time ) then you will find plenty of that in fairness the resort and the food was very good, but you can do without the Aggro, your on holiday after all go to Cyprus
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

Booked a weeks holiday starting tomorrow with thomas cook for 2 half board in a place called side, antalya for £400 for the 2 of us including flights transfers etc. i dont think ive ever booked a weeks holiday for £200 per person even outside of the school holidays!!
according to mates who have been to antalya theres plenty of culture etc
Been to "pine bay" near kudasaki a couple of times ,
big complex , the kids were well catererd for , rooms lovely and a great selection of food/drink bus stops outside about every 10 minutes to run you down to the town and we found the locals good for a laugh all the market boys seem to have been builders in haringey in a past life.................
Right here goes, been to Turkey 8 times, done all the airports Bodrum, Dalaman, Antalanya etc Done the Turquoise, Med,Gold, Silver coast etc, Turks just want your hard earned as long as you spend money they love you, any bar you park up in for your stay will treat you like their long lost cousins. Their culture is to be as friendly as possible whilst taking the lira out of your hand. There lies the culture you enquired about. Country is frigging hot, has history which they can't be arsed about (they would rather get you on a coach trip to a jewellery shop). Its the world centre for snide gear, has shops called Azda,, Chinese takeaways & Only Fools & Horses bars. Basically Southend/Blackpool/Brighton with sun but a good time if you like that sort of thing. ps Don't forget it's a tenner a person to get in the countrry

I was in Olu Deniz too a few years ago. The barmen and waiters are great fun, incredibly slick. If they have a load of Germans in, they come out in Bayern shirts, if there are more English they suddenly support Arsenal or Liverpool. Its great value and there are lovely places to see, but as mentioned it's effing hot now. If you are a bit insecure about your kids' health, you might be more comfortable elsewhere, as facilities can be a bit rough and ready.

I've got a place in turkey Hisaronu near olu Deniz. Am out here now, booked to get back early hours of the 9th (in time for starting our championship season that isn't happening)
Can't fault the place, yes it's hot but you'll know that before you go. A decent meal few beers & vino for less than a tenner Have a look www.turkishdelight.moonfruit.com for R's rates

Just back from Turkish coast - fantastic value for money! Fethiye/Göcek area is beautiful, and we found a great local company ( https://deyachting.net/) for day trips and short cruises. The whole area has lovely beaches, amazing food, and crystal clear bays. Really exceeded expectations! Happy to share details if interested
Not sure i’d be clicking on any links from a post resurrected from 11-12 years ago!
Got two kids since I posted on this and not been back to Turkey. Spain a couple of times and Greece a few times, all with the kids but I’m sure Turkey is still fine.

We did turkey 2 years on the trot. Liberty Lykia in olu Deniz. It’s adult one side and children, adults can go to the children’s bit, but children couldn’t go to adult bit. Ticked all our boxes, branded drinks, great food and entertainment, on the beach, had daytime activities if you want them and a foam party/ beach party once a week, was a water theme park which was good fun. Evening entertainment were live rock bands and a white party, no cheesy comedians or magic shows. Even had shops on site to buy your branded fakes. Help yourself freezers to magnums and cornettos…. Like heaven for a week..
Been once for 8 days travelling around by train and bus and now avoid like plague. Same goes to Cyprus. Terrible places. Take the family to Italy, Spain,Portugal, France, Sardinia or to Corsica. Not as cheap as Turkey surely but will give you a lot more.
