I went last night - was pretty amazing to see him in such a small place compared to his normal stadium type shows. New material is pretty heavy metal - I was quite surprised how heavy it was..... say what you like about him, doing these small shows and ensuring all the fans outside got to see him is a great thing. he did two full sets last night. you get the impression that the bloke would play all night if he could....

yes The Snoop thing was me...... rumours that he is doing Ronnie Scotts tonight.... there are a series of shows happening in London, keep your eyes peeled - when I hear of stuff, I will post it on here.....

Sounded like a fantastic night. I only ever went to the Electric Ballroom once and saw The Clash there so would have been great to say I'd seen Prince there too. But it sounds as if Glastonbury might be on his radar so maybe I'll get to see him down there, if it ever stops raining. Would expect him to adopt guerilla tactics down there too, aside from any headline performance. He could run riot at Glastonbury.
But in the meantime will keep looking out for more gigs. Loads of rumours floating around. Shepherds Bush Empire is one of them.

Funnily enough I was at the first night of the two nights The Clash played the electric ballroom - 1979 I think it was.... I was reminiscing about that whilst in there last night.... Shepherds Bush is definitely on the agenda apparently, not sure what day though. I used to spend a lot of time in the ballroom back in the day - saw Madness/Specials show there along with Adam and the Ants, teardrop explodes, psychedelic furs, Christ.... the list is endless.... good times indeed.

The difference with the Clash was that when they appeared there, it wasn't any sort of PR event, it was a day at the office on a proper tour. They were pushing London Calling when I saw them there - the game has changed a lot since then - you wouldn't see a band like that routinely playing the Electric Ballroom now. To be honest it didn't happen much back then either. They were a one-off.

It's funny you should say that because when played at the O2 he would finish the gig and then go and play for 3 hours at the Indigo.
Damn damn damn, flying overseas tonight otherwise I'd be queuing now. Please keep this thread alive for any other flash gigs or actual confirmed venues as I'm not back until Thurs.
