Wales fans delayed all day today, pictures and latest news
Sunday, 8th Sep 2024 16:15 by Liam Walters & Keith Haynes

The late change of venue could well work in Wales favour tomorrow evening in Niksic's City Stadium. This due to UEFA insisting the original venue, the Podgorica National Stadium wasn’t fit for football to be played on it.

With UEFA advertising and segregation the stadium which only holds 5,200 will see its capacity reduced to around 4,800. There is a very decent number of the Red Wall already in Budva, Niksic and the capital, Podgorica, and as ever the Swans have supporters there mixing with all the other clubs. A number of supporters of this site are there in several groups taking in what is a beautiful country. The weather isn’t that bad either !

Many took flights into Dubrovnik before taking the ferry / boat to Budva in Montenegro, some are there and others are spread around the province. The good news is the FAW will provide coaches after the game to those needing to travel back and elsewhere in the area. Around eight hundred will be at the game which the Montenegro FA have agreed to honour all ticket holders.

This travel is free.

Montenegro manager, Robert Prosinecki : “It’s a smaller stadium but there is huge interest from the fans there and the pitch is good. I don’t see any disadvantages playing at a smaller stadium, and most of the players have played in Niksic in their careers.”

It’s possible he hasn’t come across the Red Wall in recent times, that statement will be put to the test for sure. Tickets are still available too. Those eight hundred will be making some noise in the hope the four game streak without a goal is broken.

There are many calls for the inclusion of Lewis Koumas, an exciting young player who had a cameo role against Türkiye. However, Bellamy albeit as excited as any Wales follower is still piecing together his experiences to date. "It's such a good start, but there's way more to come from this team. I am not a master at this after one game, trust me. But I enjoyed it. It was a great country to play against in your first game and I am really happy."

Below we see Swans fans mixing with other clubs supporters. Bottom right are Swansea & Cardiff.

We wish every single follower with the Red Wall a safe and memorable time in Montenegro. We will have more news tomorrow on the build up to this game. Fans still looking for tickets in Montenegro should contact @WeAreFSAcymru on Twitter as there have been more tickets made available we understand. Latest news on numerous cancelled flights is that a number of fans have given up on travelling and Wonky Sheep tours have been badly affected today. It’s unlikely any of their customers will be able to get to Montenegro as it stands.

Cymru's record away from home is very poor and always has been. Bale inspired wins in Lille v Belgium and v Turkiye in Baku. Very little else except over low ranking teams.

Traditionally Wales would have approached this game cautiously and be defensive a play for a draw. Bellamy's front foot style may be a comeuppance early in his career. Mike Smith's 0-5 in Georgia, Coleman 1-5 Serbia. Losing in Moldova under Gould.

They were awful results for sure. Yes, when under the cosh is his real test. Wales will create chances, just need someone to put them away.
