a big spread of time here - in the post Mc Menemy period.
Last chance to name Steve Moran who left the club with 99 goals to his credit, a good example of a young player who made it at the top level. Colin Clarke clocked up 36 goals on just 2 seasons before leaving but we saw Danny and Rod Wallace in full flow. Le Tissier came into the picture in a big way, (and like Ron Davies before him ) did a one-man job for several seasons with goals that kept us in the top level.
Alan Shearer finally came into his own before that inevitable move to Blackburn.
Iain Dowie and Neil Maddison are worth a mention as occasional goal scorers, but we then saw Ostenstad and Pahars getting into the headlines. Katchloul's contribution was worth more than his meagre goal tally, as was Kevin Davies match winning goals.
This period ends with Beattie and Pahars emergence of the Beattie / Pahars partnership .

I still have my T shirt that says "I was there when Franny scored"
