My old mate Harry, sadly gone used to deliver in Chiswick and had Sheila Hancock on his round.
He used to tell me there’s an offence of Impersonating A Postman.
Was he pulling my leg ?

I know we've a postie or two on here.
Denmark stopping letter deliveries after this year.
Posties have been a lifeline to many folk over the years.
Even some folksongs written about 'em - “what a wonderful man the postman is” and, “ the post has got to get through”
Hope it won't be the same here, but I expect it will be.

Fuller’s demise?
at 14:40 6 Mar 2025

I'm a friend of Fuller's and used to get a few free pints on my birthday. Also, on the brewery’s birthday you could get some pints a penny for each year.
For example, £1.70 a pint on their 170th birthday and so on and so forth.
Tight gits don't do it any more.

Fuller’s demise?
at 11:36 6 Mar 2025

Following on from DM's thread about London Pride’s deterioration, I had occasion to visit the Distillers in Hammersmith.
I was given a (short) pint of Pride which was thin and ice cold.
I thought I'd get HSB or ESB next but then saw that of the six handpumps, Pride was the only Fuller's ale.
I remember when they sold the brewing arm to Asahi, they said they'd guarantee to stock Fuller's for five years.
Is the five years up ?
What's it like in the C&S?

The Beatles were a bit crap...

Just a thought….the Beatles went fairly quickly from an energetic pop group to relatively complex stuff. How much was down to George Martin, did he arrange as well as produce ?

Time wasting Goalkeepers penalised with Corner

So……apparently after 5 seconds, the ref will wave at the keeper and count down with his outstretched hand.
I'm looking forward to next season.

Starmer's “ boots on the ground and planes in the air” is, hopefully just waffle. The Army has fewer members than at any time since the Napoleonic wars.
The younger generation aren't well disposed to war which may be a good thing in modern times.
My Dad's generation were as hard as nails. My uncle swept mines in the North Atlantic - this was not exceptional to that generation.

The trouble is, cheats will always find another way to win at all costs.
Danny Blanchflower said it's fallacious that football is all about winning - it's about glory and style to beat the other team not make them die of boredom.
The game is different now Danny.

Goalkeepers' 8 seconds
at 16:42 2 Mar 2025

Just read that from next season, that a corner will be awarded if a keeper holds on to the ball for over 8 seconds.
Has this been mooted before or have I been half asleep ? Doesn't take much these days.

Sorry just seen prior thread !
