Dale vs Manchester United U21s
at 21:44 3 Dec 2024

Typical Jim though. Large crowd of fans that would not normally be there in a pointless game and he plays tvvat all and ends up with a 0 - 0 that will send everyone home thrilled and dying to return. If I was the chairman I would be spitting feathers at his continuous negative pi** about approach, especially in a pointless game like this.

We should have gone out and played aggressively and with an attacking (plan b) approach which could be used in future games if needed, but nope, let’s play the same as ever. Bore the sh1t out of everyone and make tonight a waste of time. Joke!!!!

Just seen we lost not that it matters. Waste of time!

I don’t really understand why you keep poking Rob. All that matters is what has happened in the last 6 or so years of our clubs existence. Yours died, your fans ignored the truth, you enjoyed the ride! I hated the last 6 years and that tvvat Bottomley, but we never swapped our cow for those magic beans and although we could have easily gone under, we didn’t for reasons above.

I miss clubs like Colne Dynamos, bury, Bradford PA etc, but if they can’t learn from their numerous mistakes, what can you do?

Rochdale sign Hogan

Think this is a fantastic signing tbh, and I’m not generally automatically positive. Steady, gives his all, not scared to put his head where it hurts and plenty of know how and experience in a youthful squad. Think Guy Branston and that’s what you get!

The thing baffling me is this. I’m assuming Hendo is on a decent contract still but plays next to no time. If Jim is not going to bloody use him what’s the point? May as well have a kid on the bench and save cash.

This isn’t a slight on Hendo, more at the logic of Jim!

Not sure of the year but somewhere I have. Keith welch sticker or 2, in pretty sure they did a club badge and one player from lo clubs from about 86, think I have an Alan ainscow sticker and a team one as well.

Got a feeling John Seasman was a sticker at one stage but might be wrong

Well said! The airport bell ends should get at least 8 years each then, let’s see if the labour driven agenda actually has some bollocks when it comes to the punishment of those that caused a large part of these riots!

Maybe if Starmer had been stronger when he was with the CPS and dealt with the likes of institutional grooming in the Muslim community and Saville and his BBC mates, this would never be happening, but then I guess Labour forget the sins of Blair (lying war criminal) quicker than Boris, but hey they are all in it for themselves!

Sorry for my lack of knowledge in some areas regarding the figures but has anyone looked at the possibility of buying the board out and becoming fully fans owned? I don’t see any reason at all this could not be a legitimate possibility if done in the right way. I’m basing this on the trust being majority shareholders but I’m not sure if the exact figures.

Let’s assume we are now losing 15k a week, it may be that it’s less than that now but it seems a fair figure based on players who have gone that were big earners. Based on the figures we have for staff this can be trimmed, sure it may involve some upset people but we have to face reality and get to a sustainable position. I believe the catering is up for renewal so bring it in house, get the pies gravy peas bovril back and add a few other bits, it worked in the pat and nothing has changed. Give the option of adding a pie peas gravy and drink to the season ticket price and issue vouchers which will help in pre deciding the amount of things needed.

Get the lottery’s back in house, yes it’s going to take time but employ a consultant with experience at the club, even if it’s just to oversee things a day a week, and yes I can think of a few people ideal to do this.

Would CD come in as chairman and help the trust with the view to his shares being purchased in the future on a gradual basis with him remaining chairman? Remaining shares owned by the board could be purchased off gauge and co, again on a staggered basis with the option to sell if we get an investor, either way he gets his funds back.

So how many staff do we really need? Obviously CEO and other roles are necessary but there are so many part time or casual staff do we use? In the past we did a lot of these jobs as fans, has that changed? Would people sell programs or golden goal tickets or whatever for a free season ticket or entry? I expect so. If the trust asked for say £10 a month (or more if people wish) to be paid by direct debit to fund share purchases, that could be transferred to the payee in the future if they wished, would there be a decent uptake? I think there would be!

Finally it’s my belief that the fans as a whole have much more nous than the current board, here alone we have 1 or more person capable of understanding and communicating the legality’s and procedures required to run a football club and want to help. We have business owners, accountants, Financial advisors, HR specialists, recruitment consultants, catering managers, we cover every area there is between us. I would give my time and skills for free, as I’m sure many many others would in order to get the club back to where it should be.

I see no reason why this could not be done and everyone is happy!

Their goal a fluke really he won’t get another like that in his career. Clear penalty early in the game, not given by ref who looks average at best. Cameron John is about as good as that gangling Cisse for them. Clumsy, slow, weak, always in space, gets ball wanders forward 5 yards, stops and passes it back is all John does. Left side in general has done nothing. Centre mid looks decent Sinclair lively and deserve to be level overall.

There is of course the other option of actually running the club like a real business. The board got us into this position and now they decide the fans and shareholders are worth talking to because they need something. The message changes every few months and this has not suddenly happened, it’s been on the ways for months / years.

We are losing £30k a week that’s black and white, so how about getting it down to £25k a week to start with, pretty easy to do with any half decent level of financial acumen. Improve the commercial department so it works and sells what is wanted or make it all online with collection available from the ticket office or items posted. Offer a monthly scheme where you can pay x amount per month into an account with the club that’s converted into shares at the end of each year, making admin minimal.

The option of borrowing against the assets is another easy option by those too lazy or incompetent to run a football club properly. We have sold players and had all the season ticket money so where has that all suddenly gone? There are so many unanswered questions and so many things I suspect they don’t want to answer.

I’m not being negative for the sake of it and as I have said I’m 99% sure the motives of SG and RK are good, but it’s those in the future as well, if the club is sold and the charge on the club remains with the potential new owners, which it easily could, we are into bURY territory potentially. Sounds dramatic but it’s very possible.

Fantastic post TS. Nail on the head totally!

We don’t have the required information to cast a vote with real confidence but the reason we don’t have this is that we get snippets as and when it suits. I don’t trust SG and his ability to run a football club and nothing since the stopping of the hostile takeover has been done with any level of sensible forward planning or competence.

I have said many times that we are in a fortunate position that we have a lot of fans that would offer their skills and knowledge free of charge, but instead we pay for management consultants. If the club are losing 30k a week then release the full costs in detail with names excluded to the trust and get people capable of helping with this involved. If we have to sign a confidentiality clause I would be happy to do that.

1.5m losses sound a lot but reducing it dramatically is not that difficult, and remember who’s tenure these losses have come under. I don’t know SG personally but 2 years plus of poor communication, basic errors, lack of foresight and an attitude that is not endearing leads me to think we need a change.

This emperor needs to wake up and realise his shiny suit does not exist and those he treats as children that know nothing may actually know a lot more than he does!

Maybe the management consultant firm was not for the clubs benefit, more for the benefit of SG, who has been told the full extent of the chaos that the club is now in and he wants out ASAP, but can’t get out as nobody wants to buy the club, and having debts secured on the assets is the next best option.

I’m sure he originally had good intentions (as well as being a chairman of a football club looks good and fuel egos) but the more I read the more I see a desperate man trying to get out and get his cash back. Nothing has suddenly happened to make this need to be rushed through, it’s just the longer it takes the more questions will be asked!

I’m afraid I don’t believe a bloody word they say now, they have reacted to the criticism and put a story together, how much if any of it is true lord knows!

If we are that skint then it’s due to their total lack of acumen when it comes to running a football club. You don’t employ a management consultant if you know what you’re doing and it’s desperate measures time. They want their cash back and if we agree to allowing them to borrow on the back of assets they will get it back!

They have realised that they have money in something that is essentially a money pit because they are not up to turning it around, but they won’t take a hit on the share price to get out (which I believe that CD and co were looking to do)

I would urge everyone to vote no to this, if we have to cut staff and be ruthless so be it, but this stinks of smoke and mirrors from the bloody start, as has much of the behaviour of the board. Remember Bottomley, this is exactly the kind of thing he would do thinking he is smarter than these clueless fans!

Incidentally, they could in theory get a loan secured on the assets, then purchase the shares they need to get a controlling majority of the club, then do what the hell they like. It’s a way to get out and make a profit and in my opinion we should be bloody wary.

Credit Where Its Due...

Plenty of time I have been critical of the club but this is just what is needed. Getting it back how it was when things like this were the rule not the exception.

All looked really engaging with the lad and as said they looked like they enjoyed it as well, not sure who it was walking into the pitch on his own (dark hair and stubble) but he said a few words to the lad and seemed really interested as well. I’m hoping it was James ball and that this season he stands out in the Matty Lund type role.

Anyway well done to the club and BJ excellent 👍
