Us 2 are driving up, leaving about 9. We're parking at the stadium, bit of a rip off at 18 quid and they keep you in for an hour after for pedestrian saftey.

There is a person often left out who had a very big effect on the SAS, he was written out of the story by his own brother, that person being Bill Stirling.

https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/bill-stirling-the-brains-behind-the-wartime-

David Stirling was brave, adventurous and entirely disorganised. Missions failed because David was poor with logistics.

When David approached Paddy Mayne about writing a book, Paddy wanted nothing to do with it.

Champions league only requires one venue for the final and Cardiff can more than cope with the crowd at the Principality.

Why should the aid budget be spent on a frippery? We waste enough money on fripperies, we are short of money so we shouldn't be wasting it on vanity projects.

The lavish spending is exacty the problem. Peple are dying, people are in pverty so spend millions nay billions on a showy sports event that leaves the hosts with debt, no..NO.

The Commnwealth games by definition cannot be niche. There are 56 members states with thousands of athletes/sports people wanting to take art.

And I use Cardiff for the same reasons but it doesn't mean I'm happy with the Senedd propping up the place to over 250 million and counting.

Sorry but you lost me at Gove and competent tory.

Your partygate paragraph is itself guesswork. We don't know who leaked for a certainty nor how many leaked
I never said the entire civil service knew just that plenty of people probably knew, plenty being enough to see the story leaked.

Which leads me to an honest question, how many leaks were there? because unless you know that answer you cannot claim the leaks would have been far more numerous and anyway, we both know that when this story frst came out that Bojo and his government cronies would have been doing their best to suppress it.

Yet when you did it you just got sectioned and locked up for 6 months.

It's that two tier Kier policing thing, blatant bias.

PS, I still have the film.....the breadsticks up the nose was a bit Blackadder.

From what I've read the Commonwealth games, Olympics and World cups never provide any real financial advantages, the osts of building and hosting outstripping any money spent by visitors.

In fact no Olympics in thr ast 60 years has come in on budget,

https://wired.me/business/costs-profits-of-olympic-games/

Football World cups are also a massive money maker just not for the hosting country, FIFA makes a fortune though,

https://www.aljazeera.com/sports/2022/11/17/do-host-countries-make-money-from-th

The only people who make money out of these things are the people who already had money, those with very little likewise make very little.

Ergo a lot of people will have known about a few of these parties because gossip always happens.

No wonder the "info" got to the press, they probably have paid informants inside the place.

Cardiff Airport

My only prejudice is about the amount of money Welsh tax payers have to throw at it to prop it up, specially when most Welsh people don't use it.

Ask North Walians how important they feel Rhoose is to their travel plans.

There again ask South Walians if they'd prefer the airport to be supported or to have the M4 upgraded.

Seems odd to me that the Senedd wont improve the M4 because of environmental impact yet they want the airport to boom despite passenger carrying jetliners being the most polluting form of transport in Wales.

Yes so apart from the 30 or so people who were there and the phone vodeo's that got into the public domain, they did an excellent job of security. In fact with that level of brilliance it seems practically impossible that many others didn't know about the parties.

To start with, the ferrying of booze in past the security people and police outside, don't tell the those people didn't talk about it and gossip always gets out.

I'm not really privvy to the layout of things but can the No10 garden bee seen from any of the other government buildings in the vicinity?

Churchill's idea was for temporary artificial harbours off 2 German islands but there was no idea what they'd look like because it was never followed up.

As for inventive, peole often forget about Operation Neptune and PLUTO, the "Pipeline under the ocean" that kept the D Day forces stocked with fuel.

Now Keith, this film, I hate it when so much is made up when the true story is so bloody incredible.

I've been tryin to dig up my grandfathers war records and some are still locked away which is its own story but I now know he was attached to the LRDG, probably in D Squadron, they were the road watchers but they also ferried the SAS guys around the desert.
He would have had some awesome stories but he never talked about the war from the monent he got home til his dying day.
he had a Burma star too so he also served in the far East.

I know it's off topic a bit but I reckon his story would make a smashing film.

Starmer! Wow!
at 17:37 19 Sep 2024

I did read it thoroughly and this bit stood out,

The PM defended his right to continue to take football freebies earlier this week, saying: ‘If I don’t accept a gift of hospitality, I can’t go to a game.

‘Never going to an Arsenal game again because I can’t accept hospitality is pushing it a bit far.’

Now on the assumption that is 100% accurate then I have to say, what kind of a screaming idiot is he?
Clearly the kind who loves to call the tories corrupt and hypocrites, people whose judgement is flawed and shouldn't be in power when he clearly doesn't recognise those traits/flaws in himself.

While I am not religious, isn't banning it worldwide a tad totalitarian? Isn't it turning the world into a dictatorship?

I wouldn't have thought the poster would be all for that idea.

People should be free to believe in whatever they want as long as they are not harming anyone else. That they do go around harming others is unfortunate but when much of it is caused by the rich and powerful, the puppetmasters shall we say, what can we do.

I do tend to agree but on the flip side, these clubs also have far squads than we used to see and can rotate. They snap up all the talent, pay them massive wages and all the managers and players do is moan.

What I'd like to know is, how many hours per week do these players actually work?

I cannot deny there are a lot more games and that is down to greed on the part of the governing bodies.

That last bit, what I read was that they threw cases out because of either a lack of evidence or no new evidence was presented and they refused to re-hash cases.

Just recently Zucker berg has said he couldn't vote Democrat.

Given his previous words, maybe he'll be responsible for the collapse of NATO?

Withdrawal of support for Ukraine possibly alowing Putin to take it all, well as much as he wants.

Yet another increase in polarisation of US politics causing even more violence on the streets though obviously harris will also be culpable there.
