Agreed. The lad only had 2 touches, I think. We lacked width most of the game and they were good down the wings throughout. Shame we couldn't shore things up and rescue those 2 lost points... |

with football's usual twist of fate.... could this be the game that sends us down if we lose? not ACTUALLY send us down, of course, but effectively be the (latest, most deadly) turning point in this season if we come away with no points. i'm going, but already nervous of the final whistle...! against all the odds i predict a 1-3 win for us. Hear hear and let's hope - whatever league/s we're in between now and then - this is still our management team for the next 3 years AT LEAST. What are our transfer window chances of landing a Gorkss/Khumalo again for the run-in to May? Do we want Jamie Jones to stay (yes, I guess - his stats must look worse than he ever expected but with some decent back 4 cover, he'll bloom again)..? We also need Callum, George and Garvan to go nowhere until the end of the season. And if Gavin Massey can shake himself out of his bland form, we're back on a roll. Up the U's! |

I know zip about footie finance -- but is it time to ask Cowling to stick his hand in his pocket and fork out for a proven manager (if any will come) and more to the point a player or two in the next window? I wasn't at Burton but was at Millwall and find it just incredible that we've slipped to a similar scoreline. If crass errors were to blame last week, surely they weren't again today? If they were, then it speaks of a team (defensive section especially) with rock-bottom confidence. They deserve support come what may so I hope the boo boys didn't make the journey. Personally I feel and little sorry for Tony Humes - he never sent a team out to lose and if he was at all to blame for man management or a lack of nous from time to time, then hey - I don't always do my job 100% either. The fact is he gave it his best shot and I saw some fantastic playing under him sometimes. If a guy does his best, then you can't ask for more. I hope he'll feel able to come to the WCHS and watch the U's again. Good luck to whoever takes over permanently, but this really is the time to get behind the lads. I was going to skip the Altrincham game in the hope we breezed it and save the cash for the next round tie. Instead, I'm jumping in the car next Sunday and coming to back my team in a tight spot. Tonight's the first home game i've missed in 3 seasons and i'm glad i didn't make it, i have to say. After travelling to Millwall i didn't think things could get worse and when my phone goal alerts showed us 2-0 up tonight, i thought Great, we've turned it around. WTF happened..? Just a month or so ago i thought we've have an up and down season but finish safely in the 8th-14th mid table range. Now like many others no doubt i fear yet another relegation battle... Away to Burton on Saturday with them 3rd in the league? squeaky bum time - and it's not yet December. Up the U's |

Kent struggled manfully at LB but (unless replays show otherwise) I'm sure Elokobi was at fault for 2. Ambrose needed to protect Olufemi more than he did. But - though 4-4 felt like a defeat at the end we were 0-2 and buried, so i thought, at HT, so there are a lot of positives going into next week at Donny, who are struggling. Harriott and Moncur played out of their skins - a joint MOM award for me. And Sordell's improving each game. I'll be gutted if we don't finish top half ... and might put a few quid on a play off place. Up the U"s |

I thought we looked great today, and Gilbey and Porter (when fit) will struggle to regain a place in the side for a while yet. Yes the defence remains a little wobbly... Elokobi surely comes back in for Kent next week (not that Kent did too bad)... and I wonder if someone can deputise at LB for Briggs. He's great in the oppo's half but I have to agree he makes one nervous against anyone with pace. Vincent-Young has matured in the space of 4-5 games and should keep his place ahead of Brindley IMHO. Anyway, I think Garvan was my MOTM - almost effortless, accurate distribution for the whole game and he's big enough to break up the oppo's attacks too. He was class. Keep him and we won't miss Fox. | Forum Reply | Chesterfield 3-3 U's. Noah's Report at 10:24 13 Sep 2015
As a U's fan dependent on BBC app alerts to track most away games (and the EADT when I can get it here in Norwich - ITFC fans usually beat me to it) I really appreciate the time taken to produce a report like this for the U'sual. Thank you. I watched the score develop on my phone and thought we must have been useless bar, perhaps, a 'lucky' late two goals. Really pleased to hear the contrary, and that the team did fans proud. I'm a give-TH-more-time man, so how the game went yesterday sounds promising. More from Bramall Lane, please, Noah! |

Dismal start but a cracking last 60 minutes. Need to see their first goal on TV before i criticise but we were flatfooted for the second. Still, lots of positives and really no need for the 'Humes out' nonsense: Scunny never really looked like increasing their tally... Elokobi a better partner for Tom than Wynter... Harriott a great loanee on today's showing... and all despite a referee who seemed to find jumping a yellow card offence. Brindley injured? If not, he's unlucky to miss out but Kane V-Y looks an able understudy. Am tempted to head to Chesterfield to get my fix before the next home game. Up the U's! |

Oh shoot. Not at all good. I thought we were crud on Tuesday night despite the clean sheet. Walker is a big loss (though I'll give Parish time). Winter and Briggs don't look entirely safe pairs of hands and for me, too many others are just too lacking in experience. We need - at least - a solid Elokobi to get fit and take a first XI berth, Porter back, and another mature player from anywhere... fast. Up the U's |

Humes-ble pie... indeed. I've not been inspired for most of the time since September but the last few weeks have seen us performa a heckuva turnaround (the 6-0 away -- ahem -- notwithstanding). Credit just has to go where it's due - so let's all congratulate TH on the mutha of all escape acts and look positively for 2015/16. What an afternoon - I've avoided the £40 splurge on a shirt all season but couldn't help myself today. Now the euphoria fades i wonder too about the squad next year. Some i'd like to see back - Briggs, Brindley, Murphy - but some will of course drift to pastures new. Anyone know who's out of contract? Please let's keep Massey, Sam, Moncur - tie 'em down sharpish, Robbie. And the youngsters who've played so much this season will come on in stature too - Sammy, Lapslie... I'm already looking forward to pre-season. Up the U's. |
