| News Comment | Southampton At Ipswich The Verdict at 13:26:24
Rinse and repeat….the classic Saints away performance of this season! The rest of the season, until the playoffs start, seems like a massive anti-climax now. |
| News Comment | Southampton At Ipswich Town The Preview at 14:53:07
I fear for us tomorrow - Ipswich like to get crosses into the box and with Kieffer Moore & co around, if we defend like we did on Friday I don’t think it’s going to end well…. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Middlesbrough The Verdict at 09:30:53
Unfortunately (because I like him as a footballer) Che Adams was a big reason we didn’t win. It’s almost certain he won’t be with us next season, we’re almost certainly in the playoffs already, so let’s stop starting him, he isn’t the future (although he would be useful to have on the bench) & I’d rather see Armstrong or Mara played in the centre forward position, both of whom are potentially part of our future, as well as the present. Rightly or wrongly, and probably incorrectly, Adams could start to become a scapegoat because of his imminent departure and that would be of no help to the team and himself….. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Sunderland The Verdict at 16:27:24
Facts / the obvious out of the way 1st - we won, which is the most important. But what a stupid performance! We should’ve, could’ve, smashed a very poor Sunderland but invited them back in the game because we have to play the 1 way, and the 1 way only until desperation creeps - our last 2 goals show what we can do if we mix our game up and go back to front a lot quicker. Also, and I have nowt against the guy, but we have to stop playing Stephens if Jan and Taylor are fit - it ain’t rocket science to play your best players even if it means leaving your captain out of the team, not that he appears that good of an “on field” captain anyway. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Sheffield Wednesday The Verdict at 19:18:12
That for me is our best win so far this season because in spite of playing against a team intent on spoiling the game in any way they could, and with a referee who, if he has refereed at this level before it didn’t show because he appeared to very “green” and wasn’t even applying some of the simplest of laws, we still found a way to win handsomely! |
| News Comment | Southampton Midfielder Shocked By Fans Booing At St Mary's at 13:31:45
Well he would say that wouldn't he, not being our player and being part of the "not progressive, boring, football" problem.... Also, as far as i heard, it was support all the way from the stands on Saturday and any booing occurred AFTER the final whistle. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Leeds United The Verdict at 15:07:31
It’s amazing what happens when you play your best team, your best players from the start! Other than Charles in for either Smallbone or Downes (take your pick who to leave out because both are pretty underwhelming) & Manning, but he has to play by default, that was pretty much it and has to be persevered with, barring injuries, moving forward, not that that’s rocket science….. |
| News Comment | A Rough Guide To Reading at 15:15:40
As a local, just as an extra bit of information re getting there by train, if the trains are running there is now a new train station opened up called Reading Green Park which is on Basingstoke to Reading line, and this station is on the business park that the Madejski is on and so makes it a million times easier to get to the stadium by train than the usual ball ache of having to go into the town centre to then get a bus back out. |
| News Comment | Southampton At Brighton The Verdict at 13:23:08
Why McCarthy? Why Walcott? Why Elyounoussi? These aren't our future so why play them however well they played, or not? Selles really isn't doing his future employment prospects much good..... |
| News Comment | Saints Need To Connect With Their Fans With Managerial Appointment at 16:16:45
Anybody that follows the EFL will know that Martin’s teams play what Strachan called propaganda football when we used to play Arsenal - there’s a lot of possession without achieving much. From my own personal point of view I would find his football hard to watch, boring you might say, if he was appointed and brings that style with him. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Blackburn Rovers 1999 Deja Vu at 15:13:31
Bizarrely enough my mind also took me back to this same game and situation in 99 after Saturday - here's hoping for the same ending to this season as that! |
