F A Youth Cup
at 18:01 18 Jan 2025

Seems a stupid day and time for this game: I’m sure all the lads would’ve liked a decent crowd but QPR fans are on their way back from Plymouth and more ridiculously Arsenal first team playing at home and on TV the same time.

Not sure why you picked Colback out: he’s hardly played any minutes since a long term injury and was brought on to replace the booked Varane and solidify the midfield which he did fine at.

Nice win Rangers, by far the better team and although we missed a lot of chances it’s good we created so many of them in the first place.
The back four were excellent today: Nardi didn’t have a save to make.
Dunne MOTM for me ahead of Kolli, Edwards and Fox.

He’s had a terrible first half: seems off the pace and as you say he’s slowing everything down.
Morgan and Smyth playing well though.

Paal’s corners are so much better than Chair’s.

A slow start for us but at least we aren’t losing.
Our passing in their half can only get better.

Kolli signs new deal!

If that’s one of the main things people are moaning about then we must be doing ok as it’s a minor issue.

Drip feeding good (or bad) news goes on in virtually all businesses including every football club.

I worked in car sales for a long time and guaranteed you’d be hit by news of shiny new models and offers at EVERY UK and European sales conference, same as holding good news back for fans forums (unless you’re Sheffield Wednesday)

I thought that any season’s accounts outside of the Championship were included in the three years calculations if the team concerned get promoted back up. If so then you’d think Birmingham would have issues.

It does if you’re into finding negatives out of positive news I guess.

Well done Kolli and the club for getting this sorted: great news.

According to a few he could’ve been playing in front of a few hundred in Saudi Arabia by now so you clearly can’t always believe what you read on the internet after all.

Ah no….. an absolute visionary of filmmaking and all of Twin Peaks is as good as TV gets.
The man was a genius and I will miss him.
RIP David: what a career you have had.

The club’s focus on youth and development seems to be the best it’s been for decades: well overdue and we should reap the benefits over the coming years. Credit to the current regime is due.

Looks like he’s taking his chance to show QPR he’s an option for our squad: thought giving him a new contract was a wrong move but it’s looking potentially shrewd now.

No chance at all we would have signed a kid who had just been released by another club and given them a four year contract.

He’s been rightly rewarded now for stepping up to first team regular so quickly and brilliantly.

EDB Signs new contract

I think you’ve nailed the difference between Morgan and EDB/Madsen: that hunger to be involved as much as possible and to be brave with the ball whilst looking forward to start an attack.
The easy option for a central midfielder is to look for the quick short pass backwards and let somebody else take responsibility and not take a risk. Unfortunately EDB and Madsen currently fall into this category, the master of which was Andre Dozzell.

A bit of perspective please!
at 14:05 12 Jan 2025

Whoever said it would’ve been a ‘miracle’ to win yesterday is very wrong: we were only 3-2 down at half time despite a weaker team selection and a few players having terrible first halves.
Make a couple of positive subs at half time to bring on your better players and we’d have had a chance of getting a result.
Sadly we didn’t bother doing this and threw in the towel instead both on and off the pitch.

So a league game 24 years ago when the incredible fluke event that our two best players got bad injuries (has never reoccurred since) justifies sacking the FA Cup off yet again?

Interesting theory.

Letting in 6 goals must surely affect the confidence of the defenders who played.
