South Africa Road seating advice
at 14:15 13 Dec 2024

I like C block (rows M up), view is pretty good, although in the platinum price band so you're paying £40+ for what is technically a restricted view (School End goal bisected by the far left support stanchion).

B block (to the right) is gold so cheaper and probably a better view (although tricky to see what's happening in the Loft/SAR corner. Bit more atmosphere in F & G being closer to the Loft but you have to do a weird combination of going up to go across to go down to get to some seats.

The catering is pretty meh since the converted the bar into the C Club (or whatever that restaurant is) but no worse than the rest of the ground and for my money, better than Ellerslie.

those bizarre long cross field left to right passes

If Barbet was playing them, these would be "diags" - check your glossary or I'm gonna point at Pete.

"an incident that was not seen by match officials at the time" covers most of the game so they've surely thought it was worth a go.

Although if I was a 32yr old, internationally-capped midfielder who'd played in the Premier league and the only way I could deal with an 18yr old in his first professional season was by smashing him tae fùck, I'd have held my hands up and hoped they dealt with it in private

Norwich losing heads, ref good and Morrisson lucky

Onto our players, when Morrison upended their player when he lost the ball - was that almost deserving of red card? It was good tactical foul from our perspective but from a football perspective it’s cynical and not good for the game - thoughts?

Never a red for me as it wasn't a clear goal scoring opportunity but I had my head in my hands for 30seconds. I'm all for playing out from the back but Paal conceded possession doing the same thing about 5 minutes before which led to 3 corners and pressure we didn't need to be dealing with. As Kolli showed, if the defender wants to try drag-backs on that kind of surface, it'll probably end in tears.

Look, I know nothing about football but even I could see whoever was in our left back position struggled. Paal, Saito, Fox, Morrison when he went over there for a bit - whoever it was thought they were prime Maldini but in reality looked like a toddler running with scissors. Why the banjo-twiddlers didn't clock this and move Sainz away from the imperious Jimmy Dunne, I can't fathom. Good for us though.

My eldest boy (U15) was looking for a new club this season, trialed at a couple of teams in West London and eventually settled on a Japanese side because of the culture. While other sides would be saying "you're shìt" for misplacing a pass or "not bein' cookin", this team formed a circle at the end of his first training session to "welcome our new friend."

They've put on trips to go and support their countrymen at QPR v Coventry (obvs Saito, who was my MotM that game), Southampton v Spurs (Yuki Sugawara) and Luton Town v Cardiff (Daiki Hashioka). By all accounts all tickets donated by the players themselves, which is a nice touch. The club also organises a monthly litter-picking event around the park where they play their home fixtures.

They're a handy little team as well except for one massive weakness - they only have two players over 5'5" (my boy being one) so conceding a corner is pretty much equivalent to conceding a penalty. Then again, QPR were the same under Warburton with half a dozen 6-footers so maybe it's not just height.

Everything but the goal - Report

I see the logic behind getting someone bigger on to try and stop Baah as the lad's a monster - he went through Saito like Jonah Lomu went through Tony Underwood in 95. The only saving grace for us was his final ball repetoire seems to consist entirely of smashing it into his teammates bolloçks/throat from 12 yards. Made Smyth look like Bardsley at points.

Of course it's a historical misconception, everyone knows roman emperors used the universal and timeless "wànker" gesture while shouting "Is that it you fùcking melt?!? I'll run you and your soft Christian firm all over Carthage you mug!!"

Lot of subjective memories of what happened during the Thompson years. Worth having a read of the outstanding interview Ronaldo Norrisinhio did for the old qprnet.com site

Simultaneously hilarious and disturbing imagery but obviously true. How else would Pete Doherty ever have slipped Kate Moss a length?

Didn't Warburton take particular umbrage with you suggesting they were tossing it off during set piece training as no team could intentionally be so poor at defending corners?

I think we knew Warburton wouldn't be backwards in saying his bit given his spells at Brentford and Rangers.

The three words that resonate in this are "communication was transparent."

In every substantive way, the club has gone out of the way this season to restrict and filter information, whether that be financially (transfers, contract lengths), operationally (who's fit to play and when anyone isn't will be fit, access to the coaching staff) or organisationally (who works here and what they do). Northern's already made this point but it's worth repeating - if you burn this credit when things are going well, it'll bite you on the bum when they inevitably go wrong.

For those who've said "yeah but a couple of wins and this will all be forgotten" - it won't. We might have been most successful (relatively) under Briatore but I'll never forgive him the sneering contempt he held us all in.

It seems Nourry has been told all this and either won't listen or doesn't care. With a bit of foreplay from him over the summer we might still be bottom and shìt but I doubt the atmosphere would be as toxic as it is amongst the support.

The problem with the greater fool theory is when you end up with the greatest fools to ever be involved in football.

I reckon I could rock in there tomorrow as a football consultant and gib a million out of them. Silly cùnts, they deserve everything that's happened to them. We don't.
