There is no explicit public policy to defund, but from a functional standpoint that is happening. Low pay and poor leadership have led to the loss of about 2 officers a month for the past few years. There is even talk of cancelling Mardi Gras next spring because of the lack of officers. Our mayor went to a sentencing hearing for a juvenile who pled guilty to five carjackings to support the perpetrator last week. https://www.wwltv.com/article/news/local/orleans/cantrell-court-teen-carjacker-s |

Probably has the highest of upside of any USMNT central defender, which isn't saying much as it is a very mediocre group. Also has major injury issues. On the plus side he excels in a back three, which Ralph utilizes. If Saints sign him, I would prefer a loan with an option to buy. |

Thiswas brought up on US EPL coverage a couple of months ago. If Higginbotham can figure it out it is pretty obvious. |

While commentating during the game today (USA Network) stated that the Saints tactically fake an injury during the 60-70 minute of most games for a rest break and this is one of the reasons for the decrease in goals given up this season. Thoughts? |

Seeing a mention of "coon ass" on this forum had me cracking up. The term really applies to cajuns specifically and not the whole state. I haven't run into a cajun who takes offence to it and most I have known use it to describe themselves. |

No it does not offend me. I do live in the deep south, and some people here may take issue as they are still fighting the civil war and Yankee really applies to the northern part of the country. |

Speaking as one of the few, possibly only, non-expat "yank" that posts here, I have never really seen anyone who finds the term offensive but have rarely heard British people use the term in person. As far as guns, it is a complicated issue here. The majority of Americans do not even own one but support the right to be able to acquire one. |

Probably for the best. Opening the bars has proved to be a complete disaster here in the U.S. |

It is. Abortion is definitely number 1 but trans issues and the wider gender discussion is becoming increasing more divisive. Even the gun issue and the urban/rural disconnect has a large religious subtext. |

I'm not Tim but I'll take shot at it. The points in this thread are mostly accurate but missing a critical element. Religion. Some of the most well known religious figures in the States, especially here in the South, argue that Trump was "sent by God" to save them from liberal values. This constitutes at least 35% of the voting public and he will never lose them. It is also part of what makes the public discourse so toxic, an attack on Trump is perceived as an attack on religious faith. |
