He was part of the problem, as is the manager and the slow possession based tactics we use. We need midfielders/wingers/strikers who can also run directly at defenders to take them on with a bit of pace because trying to pass around them isn't working. Grimes will never be that player. Widell looks exactly like what we need but unfortunately we won't see him for some time. So I only hope we get other players in who play with smiles on their faces and like to terrorise defences. We need some significant changes to happen on and off the field and Grimes should be just the start of it. |

I didn't think he'd be allowed on the Bus home from Norwich to be honest. Coleman is either (a) very loyal (B) very stubborn or (c) inept as a chairman. I thought most successful business CEO's are ruthless and decisive. Coleman is showing to be the exact opposite (unless it is just a case getting the window out of the way first as to not to take the focus off the transfer market over the next couple of days) |

I hear he was backing Williams in his Instagram goodbye saying he was the right man to take the club forward. So he's either had a falling out with those in the boardroom or he lost respect if his fellow teammates in the changing room. |

I don't know you from Adam but truly hope you and the family are ok. My condolences. |

Come on then let's hear your predictions. I'm going with a comfortable 15-25pts win for the French, however, I wouldn't be shocked to see a rejuvenated Wales Team rock up tonight and snatch an (unlikely) win. France 38 - Wales 17 [Post edited 31 Jan 18:59]

I'm chuffed for Ben. But does this mean Darling is even more likely to go this window? I'd have thought he'd have been the natural choice for the armband as a way of pursuing him to stay on. Fact we've gone straight to Ben (which I have no issues about)!does that mean Darling is likely on his way within the next 4 days? |

Agree with you here Keith. There is no way he'll even be at the stadium on Saturday I don't think. Too soon. He'll be busy packing boxes! |

Tell your Heinz insider we'll drop the price to 3.5mill if they take him immediately. All jokes aside... 4m is about right I think. Could have played hardball for 5-6m if we were desperate to keep him but it's time for the club to move on so it's a win-win. |

Totally with you on Du Guzman Gower And Grimes. One of the worst though (for me) was Jordi Gomez. Decent technically but was weak at pi$$. He'd hit the deck and get nudged off the ball all the time. He really frustrated me. |

Undoubtedly, and so he should. And as Swans fans we should say thank you and good luck. I'm not sure in his reasons for moving? Money? Direction of the Club? Coaching? Fans frustrated with him and not feeling appreciated? Maybe all of the above. He's decided it's time to say goodbye, I wish him well. I've never doubted his heart has been in the right place and he's been a model professional both as player and captain, but we need a different (better) player with a different tempo and can be a match winner. Grimes, and the role he played was a waste of a position (and significant wage). |

Or Coleman is a Genius and is thinking he doesn't want the boy to arrive here and be ruined by our head coach so loan him back until he gets fired a d start a fresh with a new coach in the summer!! |

I heard he failed on the treadmill. He jumped on and it started going, but he asked "where's the sideways and backwards function, I can't go forward" |

Let's hope we get Low in before we release Darling, otherwise WW may capitalise on our desperation and try to hike the price even further. (1) Sign Low (2) Sell Darling (500k+ minimum more than what we sign Low for due to his experience at this level) (3) Make sure there's some great add-ons included so we get a bumper pay day when they're promoted and when he's next sold on! |
| Forum Reply | Darling to leave also? at 23:40 28 Jan 2025
Me too. But be quick. Put the offer on the table for him tomorrow. Grimes is going, we want you to take over the armband and here's a whopping new 4 year contract. If he rejects, we need a good offer to come in and fill the coffers a bit for us to secure Low who I think the club see as being a long term asset. Like the clubs scrambling around for Darling, despite Low apparently currently being keen to come to south wales, we can't afford to to rest on our laurels and expect him to sign when he becomes a free agent in the summer. Who knows whom may come in and offer him better and more attractive terms. So a lot of what it's in a short space if time, but if Darling is not going to re-sign and we get 1.5m+ (he's worth more than that but has only 6 months left) that would mean we could still secure Low and get a small profit. Luvvly Jubbly. |

Always a bit dubious of a highlights video but he does look like an upgrade on Grimes. Not too many goals scored, but he's not afraid to have a shot. Most encouraging thing was he's always looking forward, he doesn't look like he too bothered about maintaining possession for the sake of it, he's either running directly at defenders or carving them open with some good passing. He could be a great fit in midfield and partner with Franco. [Post edited 29 Jan 13:31]

Everyone can draw their own conclusions, but let's just say I'm not really looking forward to the film sequel "King to a Jack" which will likely be aired when we're a bottom half League 2 team by 2030. I am a glass half full kind of guy though, so I still think two good signings (both midfield if/when Grimes goes) and a new manager within the next week with a new philosophy and tactics and we can finish the season off decently and build for next year. |
| Forum Reply | What does Grimes transfer request tell us? at 21:42 27 Jan 2025
(a) he's out most natural leader remaining in the squad, even if that is only for 4 months. (b) It may show him how much he's valued and being a captain (with another increase on wages) may help persuade him to stay? |
