Ron and Simon wasn't it? Before the young pup took the reigns.

US Superfan Visits Four Games in One Weekend

I don't mean to be churlish, but I'm not that impressed with this.

I used to come over at least once a season for one of our Saturday-Tuesday home game combos and nobody gave me 800 words and a photo montage on the BBC website.

Social media modern world bah humbug etc.

This is going to take over from 'QPR A Journey' for me.

Goodbye "And it's through the middle for Paul Furlong", hello "Girlcrush Chair if you fall for Chair there is no exit"

Celar?
at 10:59 19 Feb 2025

Joking? You mean like I'm a clown? I amuse you? How the fcuk am I funny?

My point is Celar is a player who seems to want or expect the ball to be played into a particular spot.

Loads of times earlier in the season with Smyth's crosses it wasn't where Celar wanted or expected it and it just flew across goal. To be honest in those situations I had them both at fault but far more so Celar as time went on.

Smyth has improved on that, but the ball the Korean lad played into Chair was done with real precision I thought - and he looked up a couple of times on his way into the box. I think that could suit Celar's style of play - while accepting he still has a lot of work to do as far as looking like he can consistently play at the required level.

They might want him, maybe even dangle out a couple of feelers to that effect, but they can fcuk right off.

Marti is more of a St Johnstone man anyway.

Celar?

I'm also wondering what the last comment was on Celar's injury. He was undoubtedly better in those 2 or 3 games - seriously unlucky timing.

That ball the young Korean lad played into Chair for his second would have been ideal for Celar - could see those two combining quite well if he gets back before the end of the season.

Bits and Pieces I loved yesterday

Chair's fitness looks to be back now, and hopefully this is a sign that the form has followed.

One thing I noted in the early parts of the game before he scored was how hard he was working - not just through the middle but up and down the left flank, then sprinting across to the right side of midfield to win the ball back - great stuff.

Great - he was the one I was left wondering about when the venetian blinds slammed shut.

Looks promising from the info available.

Good in patches but rode our luck in the box a couple of times.

I'd like to see Min the Merciless have a run at them. Not sure for who though.

I grew a handlebar moustache over the course of a few weeks in preparation for a 70s disaster movie night experience about 10 years ago.

The Poseidon Adventure and the Towering Inferno back to back, so obviously it was worth it.

Love songs!

This is a cross pollination with your wedding song thread, Disco.

These songs were supposed to be the 'first dance' or whatever it's called, at our wedding. But I was doing the music myself through a karaoke speaker and was half cut so forgot about the whole concept of a first dance. Nobody noticed!

Anyway it was supposed to be Van followed by Franco de Vita's power ballad 'Te Amo'. Franco de Vita is quite liderally the Billy Joel of Venezuela.

Dembele interview
at 18:14 7 Feb 2025

Good stuff - seems like a smart, well grounded character - looking to manage expectations as far as his comeback is concerned.

Terrible that he had the injury, but Dembele being out has helped Smyth progress I think.
When you throw in the South Korean kid we'll have a total of 5 tricky wee bastards to choose from in those attacking positions.

I think it's worth trying some kind of environmental exposure technique: 3 months living on a rough council estate, lifting weights in the morning and delivering slabs of meat across London for the rest of the day.

If he agrees to and completes that he should return for pre-season and they can reassess.

Yeah I don't disagree with that - different story once we're mathematically out of the play-offs.

He does at least increase our chances a bit of that being a bit later into the season.

The way I look at that is, when we had Kyle Walker on loan, there's no way you would have played Bradley Orr ahead of him.

Different stage of his career to Liam I know, and I do think Morrison could be a great player for us. So I do accept the development aspect.

But Orr was a decent player, whereas Walker was just farcically above Championship level. Edwards verged on looking like that last night at times I thought.
