Waste of space for 95% of every game. game after game I watch his performance and bar a bit of decent pace, the very odd goal he brings nothing to the table for me. No invention, no trickery, no skill, dog shit first touch and pretty much non existent in every other way..... There I said it!

The likes of Jackanapes, Monmouth and Warwick have pretty much said everything I want to say on this.

To follow up something hammy posted, are people still surprised that we mostly look better in the second half? Our style of possession football wears teams down, although it can mean we create very little in the first half. There are exceptions, such as WBA last season, but they are firmly in the minority.

You can choose to believe we played better in the second half because Laudrup put a 'rocket up their collective arse' or because that's a natural byproduct of the way we play. What was disappointing in the first half was how sloppy we were in possession, giving it away far too easily. That was unusual and hopefully won't happen too often.

You know, Hobbes, some days even my lucky rocket ship underpants don't help.

Yes, I also thought we were a bit sloppy in the first half but I also thought that Sunderland played quite well in that they prevented us from playing our normal style and packed their defense hoping to hit us on the break.

To keep playing that defensive tactic for 90 minutes is very difficult and as soon as we scored that first goal it drew them out and we simply overrun them.

Most of the post match interviews indicate that Laudrup made his displeasure known to the players at half time, so I'm not convinced that you can just put that first half display down to tactics.

We didn't play well. Second half we played a hell of a lot better. Not much more to it than that.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

The first half was like trying to get a square peg through a round hole, Sunderlands tactics were to park the bus.
We were trying to play through them and this made us look poor as the things we were trying just didn't come off.
Second half space opened up and we destroyed them.

Its going to be a long hard season for them

We are the first Welsh club to reach the Premier League Simples

I agree that we were sloppy in the first half and the improvement was down to a lot more than tactics. I believe we do as a rule play a lot better and score more goals in the second half of games. I think this is down to our style of play gradually wearing teams down, although of course I could be totally wrong.

There's a definite truth to what you're saying about us being slow starters.

Looks like my knee jerk reaction isn't popular. I was a bit OTT I admit it. He is gash too consistently for my liking though.

Gash? Phuck me.
When you've seen Dave Roberts playing on the wing in the mid 70s... THATS GASH.
You've been spoiled mate.

It's just the internet, init.

I'm not sure if people using the term ' escaped goat ' are taking the piss out of annis or actually believe its the correct term now?

As for Routledge I'd like to see us try and sign a new winger maybe on loan in January as I feel we can do better especially one who can cross a ball. He's served us well but is awfully inconsistent and starves Bony of quality crosses.

To disruptive - where would Routledge then figure? not much time for a player to settle in such a key position from January. poor call.

Problem was that Sunderland was playing so deep, and with 2 backs of 4, so we had to push them out wide to create more space, and ML certainly did that in 2nd half

Poll: Bony´s lack of goals, whose to blame ?.

I like Wayne as a player but his determination never to use his left foot really is annoying, he's on 20/30 000 a week surely he can use both feet to kick a football

Correct mate, whilst the odd outside of the right foot cross can come off now and again (Malmo) springs to mind for Bony header I just can't believe a professional football cannot be coached to use his left foot!

I know I've been too harsh on him I hold my hands up but he seems to try to take 3 players on when it's clearly not on yet come inside and pass backwards when 1 on 1 when it's screaming out to use his pace. Argggg very frustrating, then again I'm an expert......not!! Maybe I'm missing something.

Yep fair comment, just hope he doesn't drop dyer when Pablo comes back in. But like you said I'm sure ML knows what he's doing.

I dont think that Routlage is a waste of space! My opinion is that he was a good player for us for the past two seasons but now we have brought in some serious talent and is now not looking as good as he once did! I think its time now to start looking for another winger, an upgrade to a faster player who has great crossing ability.
0
Wayne Routledge on 21:04 - Oct 22 with 2079 viewsmidswan

the fastest wingers tend not to be the best crossers of a ball..ML likes his wingers to play narrower allowing the full backs forward, hasn't worked out too bad so far has it?
A faster, better crossing ability than WR or Nath ? Unlikely I'd say.Pablo is far from the quickest remember and like the 2 mentioned all seem able to produce plenty of assists...WR is particulary good providing for others (even v Sunderland he set up JDG)

Hasnt worked out bad at all but sometimes instead of pissing about around the edge of the box the wingers need to just cross the ball into the box as a running Bony and Michu will concern any defender. Not saying he is useless just think its the next area we need to strengthen, imagine having a player like Townsend added to our squad. Routlage and Dyer are massive players for us but their quick deliveries into the box are not the best and that would be a great asset to have IMO.

Wayne Routledge on 21:47 - Oct 22 with 2042 viewsmidswan

fair enough, trouble is finding a townsend, we couldn't afford one and to be honest do we have the patience if we took a'flyer' on similar? Remember he was loaned out a lot before his breakthrough (in fact a bit like Scotty and WR) Still ML is the man to find one ala Michu (depending on how long ML stays himself)
