"Energy bills for a typical household will rise by more than £100 a year in April under regulator Ofgem's new cap - a higher than expected increase adding pressure on people's finances.

The 6.4% increase means a household using a typical amount of gas and electricity will see their annual bill rise by £111 a year, or £9.25 a month, taking the total bill to £1,849 a year."

I am a conservative.in my opinion it is not the job to feed children ( that is the job of families) and it is not the Government' s job to ensure everyone is warm. This a is an personal responsibility for the individual or charities ..

The state pension should be enough so the elderly CAn heat their homes and eat too.

What would you do with starving families, send them to the workhouse? It's a very Victorian attitude, surely not!

Dwr Cymru has the highest water prices in the UK. Being not profit there are no incentives to make efficiency savings or invest in modern technologies.

The same happens in all nationalised companies and councils they run for the benefit of staff not the paying customers.

Perhaps tying the CEO wages to company performance may have an influence.

The CEO of Welsh Water earns over £300,000 and had a bonus of over £200,000. Quite why a not for profit company is paying out that much is anyone's guess.

Surely it has to be investigated, that bonus? How did he earn a bonus with so many leaks and spills?

That's not what Conservatives are about, not genuine ones anyway. Lot's of reforms over the years have come from Conservatives and Tories, not as much as Labour though

Many of those struggling to heat their homes are home owners in houses that are very expensive. They are asset rich and cash poor. This is a choice in many cases. Many have even cleared their mortgages They want to be subsided to remain in the family home to maximise a very chunky inheritance for their children. Not all are like this of course but many are.

Poor families ars often the result of runaway fathers. At one time the state went after the father's to contribute to family funds. I gave lost track as to whether you the state still does this. I suspect not.

Yeah just like those who are old now did, people seem to forget these "old people" have more than paid their dues into the system, not all perhaps, but the great majority have, same will happen when you reach old age.

I've worked since I was 16, but I don't officially retire until November 2027 at the grand old age of 66 and 10 months, god only knows how much I've paid into the system.

Governments put the retirement age up without considering the type of work people do, millions suffer from their joints and worse etc brought on by the work they do or have done.

You are assessing it from only your point of view. You have paid in your dues but what have you and your dependent taken out? Free schooling free health care do not come cheap.

Fit taxpayers accept to carry the burden for the sick and old as well as the incarcerated as part of the community. Many jobs are not wealth creating.

The retirement age has increased in line with life expectancy. It was 70 thirty years ago and is now around 83. This has been dripping for the first time in modern history.
