I thought there already was a rule and that it was 6 seconds. Don't need a new rule just uphold the ones that we have. Also goal keepers should have to take goal kicks from the side that the ball went out instead of slowly sauntering 15/20 yards every time the ball goes out. |  | | |

Current rule is punishable by indirect free kick. Never given because it seems too harsh and it ends up being a yellow card once and then not punished further.
A corner, whether with or without a yellow, is much more likely to be given and given more than once. It makes absolute sense to me. | | | |

We had the 6 second rule before and it just led to the stupidity of the ref waving wildly at the goalie to get on with it, who didn’t, because refs were afraid to give an indirect free kick against them.
The only way such a rule would be worth even thinking about is if it’s a set time to take a goal kick - keepers aren’t time wasting with the ball in their hands.
Also a set time for a corner/throw in to be taken.
In reality though no ref is going to ever uphold it so it’s pointless. | | | |

Slightly related ibut why does every corner and attacking free kick outside the box take forever to take? I get it if there’s pushing and shoving in the box the refs need to get on top of it but it’s like every set piece has the build up of a west end musical. Over pedantic refereeing where everything has to be just so before a set piece is taken is doing my nut in. It destroys the momentum of the game almost making it a different sport. Is it me or was it always like this? |  | | |

I think that the scoreboard should display a countdown from 8 seconds as soon as the goalie touches the ball. If no goal kick is taken within the time limit a Claxon/siren/foghorn should sound thus indicating a indirect free kick or corner. This will remove any unnecessary stress or indecisiveness from the already overworked referee. It's not rocket science. |  | | |

Enforce the existing rules ffs. We’ll get a week or two of some referees being all showy about how they’re clamping down on it for two weeks before it disappears. Keepers will feign injury to get around it when winning late on or they’ll find some other way around it. | | | |

I’m with you here. If a keeper gets a yellow for being a time wasting dick (apart from ours) he’s never getting a second for doing it again, which he will, as many times as he likes.
So, let’s have corner. Pretty easy to enforce, but we would have the whole country counting them down all game(s) which could become very dull. |  |

Completely agree Danny - was about to contribute the same gripe.
2 or 3 mins prancing about and most of the time it's only sailing straight out anyway.
I'd like to see refs receive an electric shock via their watch for any set piece delay over 30 seconds. |  | | |
