The Cowley's Book of Excuses 11:20 - Nov 3 with 1237 views | MarkyMark47 | Soon to be published! Here is a taster of some of the chapters (which will be short). 1. We Had Good Control of the Game (but somehow lost). 2. The Footballing Gods Are Not Being Kind to Us. 3. We Are Missing A Lot of Athleticism (due to players being sold and Injuries). 4. Their Goal Was Obviously Offside. 5. We Are Still Developing Relationships In The Group. 6. It's A Very Northern Based League (so we do a lot of travelling) More to come!!

Can't help thinking this should run in parallel with 'The Cowley's Book of Bull' 'You can't beat a man that never gives up' yes you can, this is football, not bare knuckle fighting. 'Great business for the club' yep always great to sell your best players, to pay for the academy and then buy donkeys on the cheap. For all their failings, and there are many, I still think they would have done a job if they'd been given a decent budget, but we need to wait until the penny has dropped with the 'Cult of Cowley' before they are dispatched, otherwise we'll have 20 years of 'we should have stuck with Danny'. It's bad enough with McGreal [Post edited 4 Nov 11:03]

What has really bothered me is the lack of progress with getting the defence sorted out. Even with mediocre players it should be possible to achieve more than the Cowleys have done so far.

I’m guessing that on here, we all do (or did) various different jobs/professions. Can you image after say ten years experience, you suddenly forget how to do your job. It’s just inconceivable. Yes, you might have training from time to time to learn new developments or to make sure you are still up to speed. These are professional footballers. That’s all they do for a living. All the work they do between matches should be practice and keeping fit, with a little planning for the next opponent. It shouldn’t be about learning how to do their basic job. Defending hasn’t changed overnight, I don’t understand how they can forget how to do the simple things, unless they weren’t good enough in the first place or they are past it, or they're coached so much that by the time Saturday comes, they don’t know their arse from there elbow.
The Cowley's Book of Excuses on 15:13 - Nov 4 with 944 views | burnsieespana | Defending or the lack of goes throughout the top 4 divisions. You only have to look at the Brighton full back against Spurs. It is no longer fashionable to be a bulk standard defender as in the so called 'old days'. What would players of the past such as Johnny Fowler, Duncan Formers, Chopper Harris, Ron Hunt make of it? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

The Cowley's Book of Excuses on 20:08 - Nov 4 with 870 views | franksic1988 | Problem is in their time at the club… DC / NC do not improve players. Forget who they inherited or signed not many players get better under their coaching. Poor old Arthur seems to of gone backwards. DC is a very very good analyst he is the perfect pundit… he can tell you exactly what’s gone wrong… he just doesn’t know how to fix it. Like most pundits… I wouldn’t put Jamie Garragher in charge of a team and look at Neville’s botch up when he had a go. DC and NC are stato nerds… I don’t even think when you look at the players reaction to them they even have a great connection with the players… they have only kept and Job as they have kept the fans onside with a clapping lap before and after the game with a Mincy wave to the crowd ( when you pull off our bi monthly win ) If you want a spreadsheet studied or a laptop worked they’re the boys… if you have use your eyes and football brain count them out… get the kit man
The Cowley's Book of Excuses on 10:33 - Nov 5 with 782 views | MarkyMark47 | The pre-match clapping needs to stop, at least until they are giving the fans something to cheer about. Otherwise it looks patronising.
