Ok. Um i'm quite happy with that, but I'm guessing I will be in the minority .

I'm delighted with it to be honest but again I think I rate him much higher than many

I'm very surprised as I had Dykes down as the most likely to be sold.

I think he and Ains will probably work well together.

Yep, I'm pleased too.

Would better suit his strengths with us playing more direct this season. Unlikely to have found a better replacement if we sold him. Ok with this.

Well my flabber has been well and truly ghasted.

A footballer showing a bit of loyalty. Even if he goes now, at least we can negotiate a decent fee.

Take note Chrissy Willock

Pleased with this as well.

Put people around him and he'll get better, he can't do it up there on his own.

Probably why we got rid of Dickie use his massive wage for dykes

Poll: Now it’s slightly clearer cut who do you want as manager ?

Suprising,but a good news!!

Yes,we all know he has his limits, but his attitude always 100%. Of course we still need another senior striker to compete with Lyndon, but i have a feeling that GA thinks Dykes as a main man upfront

Great work by the club and a real positive for next season.

Never been a great admirer of Dykes dont think he is a natural striker but we rarely play to his strengths. He has proved for Scotland that he can be a decent player... hope he starts to do it for us now
Personally I would have tried to sell him as in all honesty he is probably one of the few that someone may have paid for
But it is nice that someone who is not totally useless sees us a something worth committing too. Good on you son

Brilliant news, puts us in a much better position now. We have a striker for next season, he's far better than many give him credit for in my opinion, and if he does fire up early on we can get decent money for him.

Win all round.

Some of the replies on Twitter though, how are these people fans? How can they not want him to sign a new contract? Bizarre.

Hang on a minute… this can’t be true NorthernR said we had to get rid of anything “not tied down”

Wilkinswatercarrier and DerbyHoop assured me there was no money left?

Someone please clarify…

Seriously though, great news, Dykes is developing still further and will suit Ainsworth’s approach

Well done the club

Fully expected to spend the next few weeks reading various rumours of where he was off to.

So for him to have signed this early you'd have to think they've managed to sell him on their vision - well done on that.

Amazing! All we need to do now is sign McTominay.

Nah, honestly, that is great news.

Well it looks like you are not. As has been said not a prolific scorer but I doubt we could have replaced him for what he does.

Brilliant news, the only reason for letting him go was because he wouldn't sign a new contract, trying to replace him would be a nightmare and if he does actually go now we get a very fat fee.

Have to congratulate whoever has been dealing with negotiations and in the absence of a DOF well done Lee and Gareth.

Great news, think he'll be key next season and we'd have been needing to replace like with like anyway, really positive

No doubt what so ever that it will be on improved terms.
The fact he was digging his heels in makes me question wether he is 100 % commited to the cause.
Money talks though and not having Johansen and Dickie on the wage bill has obviously payed for that.
Would be nice though if next season he can score a few more goals and not have to constantly applaud him for the effort he puts in.

I'm ok with this. Mainly because if we sold him our next signing would probably be even worse , which has been a pattern for the last 10 years. Having said that ,Dykes is a far better player then Polter, Syllus and Smith and a few other strikers weve had. We've just got to play to his strengths more.
Its also nice to know not every player at QPR cant wait to leave.

Think he is our most valuable asset ( and one we have had an actual bid for) … good, unexpected news!

Well done club.
