Tired of being shafted and ignored the French are doing what we should be doing. Not accepting a rise in the pension age to 64 whilst here they want us to work longer and longer. Our kids will be working way into their 70s if this lot get their way.
“Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously'
One of the reasons our government wanted Brexit was to escape the embarrassing comparisons with EU countries, particularly over healthcare and welfare, but they still keep coming, only now they're more embarrassing: according to the latest living standards audit, by 2030 the UK will have a lower standard of living than Romania.

I got told the same by someone who works in dentistry. The Eastern European dentists have returned there post-Brexit as their own countries now offer them a better standard of living than England. The NHS is now recruiting their replacements in Third World Countries, like Pakistan and Nigeria.
The way things are going, by 2030, there will be desperate boat people from England crossing the Channel.

Erm, but isn’t it the case that the French gov simply can’t afford to pay for a retirement scheme which starts at 62?
Given the sclerotic bureaucracy in France there must be a huge amount of non-wealth generating civil service types to pay for…
You are right, they are having the same problems we are having, that long term the scheme is unsustainable, but lets not let that get in the way of a chance to slate our pension system.
In the UK the state pension was set up after the war and basically you got it at 65 and the average life expectancy was about 66 for men and 71 for womenin 1948, so you could expect to get your state pension for around 1-2 years max for many people, with a very small proportion of women working back then
Now the life expectancy is about 82-84 years so that is why the age that we get it is rising, we can't afford to pay a state pension for 15-19 years or so under the current funding.
That is why we have introduced the workplace pensions, to supplicate the state pension with a system pretty much as they do in France, they have to pay their NI contributions and then a compulsory supplementary pension.
The official age is 62 but its a reduced pension and the full pension isnt payable until 67, so at the moment they are complaining that they won't be able to get a reduced pension till 64, so to say it is the full retirement age that is being pushed up is misleading. Most people have to wait until they get their full pension to be able to afford to retire.
It's actually a very complicated scheme, where of course the reports on it are very simple, the nasty government is punishing the people

It's also worth noting that the average life expectancy in the UK is falling and that the decline started before the pandemic. Researchers say it's caused by " poverty as well as reductions in welfare support and healthcare". Life expectancy in the UK now is significantly lower than it was ten years ago. How far it will fall remains to be seen but poverty in this country and the consequent fall in health standards have set in.
"A relative worsening of population health is evidence that all is not well. It has historically been an early sign of severe political and economic problems. This new analysis suggests that the problems the UK faces are deep-seated and raises serious questions about the path that this country is following".
We're falling behind the developed countries and average life expectancy in France is now 3.5 years higher than in the UK.

I'd wager the average UK Life expectancy figure would jump significantly if the Sweaties achieved independence.
Smoking, drug abuse, poor education and high fat diets take their toll. Factor in the crushing anxiety of incessant anti-English bile and that's quite a cocktail.

so the Establishment is frustrated by not being able to have a good pan European war every twenty years to cull the lower class elderly and infirm.
Plan B is to reduce health support, increase poverty and crime levels to those endemic in the Victorian ages. This reduces life expectancy and the cost of state benefits. A big win for the ruling classes and rich.

We have to look after the planet Dwayne, apparently there are only enough resources to go round for the so called Elites. Surely you are willing to take the hit, so they can continue their jet setting pampered lifestyle??
I wholly disapprove of what you say and will defend to the death your right to say it.

I'm always amazed at the amnesia people have today over anything more than two years ago. In cas you've forgotten the Government did not want to leave the EU and the vast majority of the Cabinet including the PM and the Chancellor campaigned to stay in. It was a plebiscite with nearly 40 million members of the electorate who decided it . By the way if you want to go back to the last referendum in 1972 it was the Labour Tribune group led by Tony Benn Eric Heffer and the TUC who campaigned to leave citing "loss of Sovereignty" - and they lost. stop trying to mould History to suit your own prejudice.

I think the Universe has its own way of looking after things. It sorted out the Dinosaur with a well aimed pebble. Perhaps the lump of rock about to transit between the Earth and the Moon is just a sighting shot. They only saw it a few months ago, what else is lurking out there. Now Bruce Willis is screwed there is no chance of preventing the bump.
Then watch how fast the Elite scuttle into their champagne stocked holes like cockroaches. My money is on the cockroaches doing best.
Or or it could be a Putin / Xi firework display in aid of ReadyBrek kids
