No rumours or any gossip but butterfield at scunny could be an option. No idea of his current level but he was a quality player and is only 32 and being at scunny I canβt see much resistance to them keeping him. Sort of experience we need but itβs nothing more than a name!

January Transfer Window on 17:58 - Jan 4 by NorthernDale | Am I right to be worried that we have only announced one player released, I accept that with loan players, the parent needs to agree to the loans being cancelled and what is more worrying, I was hoping for at least one player in by now. We have two crucial home games against Newport and Colchester, but we all know the present team is not good enough, so we one or two people in by Saturday. |
Getting players in of the right calibre is going to be an incredibly hard sell for EBJ The enthusiasm that Danny Lloyd has shown so far stands out like a sore thumb in this squad, and we need (a lot) more, but let's be honest - if you were a pro with different offers on the table, would you choose Dale right now? The best we can hope for is someone with something to prove who hasn't got any other offers on the table. You'd think that would've applied to players like Malley. We had one of his connections coming on here making his case, which didn't do him any favours, and the reality of course turned out to be very different once he got on the pitch I'm not hopeful of anyone coming in before the weekend, but we'll see [Post edited 4 Jan 2023 18:05]

I'd be very surprised, but pleased, if we signed Haughton. He's only playing at NLN level (fingers burned previously!), but his record is superb. Creates, scores from open play but is also a free kick specialist. There are bound to be league clubs interested in him, he's out of contract at the end of the season. There's a few things in our favour...EBJ and he's a local lad. KFC also commented how good we were to deal with over the Charman deal, so possibly some good will between the clubs too. If we can get this one done, it'll be a step in the right direction.

I'd like to think we could see an arrival today with three having gone this week, though I'd obviously rather we waited to get the right targets than just an additional body.
January Transfer Window on 11:50 - Jan 6 with 4407 views | EllDale | Slicker disappeared off the radar after he went on international duty with Scotland in September. Nothing on his Twitter account since then either. Injured? Who knows, but, if that was the case, then why not just say so? The kind of loan players we need at the moment (or signings of any description) arenβt kids from Premier League Academies but experienced professionals who can do a job. On Slicker... Football Manager 23 (pinch of salt for reliability maybe) have Slicker as one of our top earners with us seemingly paying all his Man City wages. Surely this isn't true for a sub keeper however I wouldn't put it past the Stockdale recruitment policy.
January Transfer Window on 12:19 - Jan 6 with 4309 views | EllDale | The RS keeper recruitment policy cost the club more than was necessary anyway. Why did we have three keepers last season in Lynch, Coleman and Wade for example?

Why would anyone give credence to what's on a computer game, where the info is provided by the likes of Chaff? [No disrespect to Chaff, who knows his stuff].

Wade wasn't a senior keeper, in his rare appearances he didn't look very good. Realistically he was there for cover if one of your senior keepers is injured. Unfortunately, Stockdale managed to inherit a backup senior keeper in Lynch, and added another backup senior keeper in Coleman to fight it out for the no1 spot. To be fair to Lynch, he's gone on to become no1 at League One Fleetwood!!

I'm not hopeful of seeing anybody arrive today. Bentley's comments in interviews were very much "we've identified targets and we'll try and bring them in", rather than "we've identified targets and we hope to see movement on those next week". Obviously it's important that we bring the right players in, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't concern me when a) we are shit and need to improve the first XI and b) other clubs around us are strengthening already. It's important to note that the likes of Malley, Tulloch and Nelson leaving the building haven't necessarily weakened us.

Both Lynch and Coleman suffered pretty woeful runs of form at separate times last season. I can only imagine what the reaction would've been on here had we needed to stick with one of them for the entire season or pick an untested kid who clearly wasn't ready for EFL football and now finds himself as back-up at a National League North club.

By the same token, two Newport players have left this week and they haven't brought anyone in yet. Their squad list is incredibly short for modern times.

Getting Campbell and Taylor back would be like signing two new players, although I worry there is more about Taylor not even getting into squads than we have been told.

And they have sent back three loan players as well, plus are offering Omar Bogle to anyone who will take him. So five less definately plus another they don't want. Sounds like they to are struggling financially.

January Transfer Window on 18:50 - Jan 1 by Newbury_Dale | Neill Byrne has apparently been made available at Tranmere. A decent defender who would improve us. Not in their squad today. Ryan Colclough has requested a move at Alty. Oldham apparently interested. A skillful wide player who is back on the right track after some behavioural issues a while back. I've seen him live a few times and he's a mile better than Odoh in terms of an end product. Too good for Oldham. Out of contract in the summer. I watch Maidenhead when I cannot get upto Rochdale and they've got a target man who is improving at a rate of knots, Emile Acquah. I think he could improve still further with full time training. A big lad who is mobile too. Still a bit raw but better than the version of Scott Quigley that we've seen lately. Out of contract this summer. All potentially available and not completely unrealistic from a financial point of view. |
Byrne has signed for Stockport today.
