Week 21 results BURNLEY 3 MIDDLESBROUGH 1 Manuel Benson scored twice as Burnley came from behind to beat Middlesbrough and extend their lead at the top of the Championship to six points, despite ending with 10-men. Well done to Lewis_1 for being the only one to get this spot-on, and a further 20 had the outcome, with 11 going for a 2-1 in what equally the weeks most predicted score. CARDIFF CITY 1 BLACKPOOL 1 Blackpool captain Gary Madine returned to haunt his former club by scoring the equaliser, after failing to find the net during a miserable two-year spell at Cardiff. 3 had this spot-on, and one more got the outcome, and everyone else predicted a win for Cardiff. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN 0 WATFORD 2 Joao Pedro scored a second-half double as Watford beat bottom side Huddersfield to move up to third in the Championship. 3 got this spot-on, and another 14 had the outcome. DERBY COUNTY 4 FOREST GREEN ROVERS 0 Derby moved into the top six in League One as a David McGoldrick hat-trick inspired an emphatic win, as Forest Geen only have one shot on target. Well done to GOSBTS for being the only one to have this spot-on, and a further 19 got the outcome. PLYMOUTH ARGYLE 2 MORECAMBE 1 Plymouth returned to the top of League One with this win over basement side Morecambe. A sublime 5 got this spot-on, and another 17 had the outcome, with 11 going for a 2-1 in what was the weeks other most predicted score. Cursing the 91st minute goal for Morecambe. Plymouth had a massive 32 shots with 13 on target. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 0 OXFORD UNITED 0 Wednesday goalkeeper Cameron Dawson saved a stoppage-time penalty to give the high-flying Owls a bore draw. That penalty save was good news for GOSBTS as he did well to be the only one to have this spot-on, and for the 2 who got the outcome. 19 predicted a win for Wednesday. BRADFORD CITY v ROCHDALE POSTPONED Frozen pitch LEYTON ORIENT 2 SUTTON UNITED 0 Orient extended their lead at the top of League Two to seven points as a Paul Smyth stunner and Alastair Smith own goal secured the victory, in a game where both teams only had one shot on target. Everybody predicted a win for Orient, with a magnificent 7 getting it spot-on. With 13 EFL fixtures being postponed, due to frozen pitches, we were lucky that only one of our games was affected. That was good news, as it left us with 7 matches to give everybody an early Christmas present, as they all had a strongly fancied team in them. With 5 of them obliging, it did indeed give most members a decent week. That was more to do with the 89 total outcomes, as although every game had a 3 pointer, there was only a respectable total of 21 spot-ons. When posting his predictions GOSBTS said "I’ve been complacent during the World Cup! Now time to pick up the form". Well, he certainly did that, as he was the only one to get three 3 pointers, the Orient 2-0 to go with those good Derby and Wednesday predictions. He also had three outcomes to make him the weeks top scorer, with an absolutely magnificent 12 points. Although not a record score, it has to go down as one of the best lot of predictions we have ever had for a less than 10 game week, because I can't remember anybody getting a 4-0 and a 0-0 spot-on in the same week before. As MrHappy2 has already said "Brilliant picks - well done ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘". Not to be outdone, five members did well to have two 3 pointers, they were thrillseeker, who got the Cardiff 1-1 and Orient 2-0, Daniel the Cardiff 1-1 and Watford 2-0, and oxfcolu, the wins for Watford and Orient. They all also had four outcomes to give them an excellent 10 points each. The other members to have two spot-ons were Madeira163, who had the Cardiff 1-1 and Plymouth 2-1, and Lewis_1 who had the Plymouth 2-1 to go with his good Burnley 3-1 prediction. They both also got three outcomes to give them a superb 9 points each. Best of those to have one 3 pointer was Blue4U2, who had the Plymouth 2-1 and five outcomes to give him a very decent 8 points. Happy Cup The draw and fixtures for the Quarter-finals are now on the separate Happy Cup thread. Plenty of time as the deadline is not until 7th January. Midweek League Cup Just a reminder. The final round of games, that will decide the qualifiers for the knockout stage, are now ready for predicting, with the deadline Thursday 29th December 19.45. U'sual Champions League Only two weeks, and 17 games, left now to decide who the qualifiers will be for this seasons competition. The member currently in that important eleventh position is bwildered with his 89 points. That is 3 ahead of thrillseeker, and it is 8 more than everybody else, who now have an awful lot to do if they are to get involved. In the Premier Five outcomes for mfb_cufc continues his reign at the top, but the lead is reduced by a point, as noah4x4 gets the Orient 2-0 spot-on. Five outcomes also for RSCOSWORTH, and he remains third. Also having the Orient 2-0 spot-on was blueeagle, to keep him in the final Super Cup place. The excellernt week for thrillseeker moves him up a place, as he takes advantage of a rare missed week from ghughes11, that has suddenly put him into the relegation fight. Two more to benefit from getting the Orient 2-0 spot-on were concordman and Sector4, and they both move up a couple of places. The excellent week for Daniel has greatly improved his chances of escaping, as he takes advantage of a no show from wessex_exile, by moving up a place. At the bottom, rather than expelling TheFatGooner from all competitions, I have decided to suspend him until I find out why he is not posting. As he is now 22 points from safety, relegation is looking certain anyway. In Division One The outstanding performance from GOSBTS has taken him back to the top, after a week away. That means MrHappy2 has to settle for the other automatic spot this week, after a week at the top. The excellent week for oxfcolu helps him to keep tabs on the top 2, as he moves up a place to third. The superb week for Madeira163 also moves him up a place to a season high fourth. That means Pinault_Noir drops to fifth, the lowest he has been since Week 9. The superb week for Lewis_1 moves him up a couple of places, and back into a play-off place, after two weeks away. Things remain competitive for places in the top 6, as burnsieespana and bwildered are only a point further back in seventh and eighth. It is now a big 12 points back to the ninth sevebalo, as the league has suddenly been split in half. THE TABLES (149 out of 280 played) (Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post) Week 22 Fixtures This is now an 11 game week, to make up for the postponed match from Week 21, picked by this weeks guest durham_exile.
