pre season friendlies 23:28 - Jun 20 with 14700 viewsPeterHucker

So we've got the 2 matches in Germany and Wealdstone away.
Any others that I've missed?

Tavistok
Bodmin Town
Torquay United
Colin's BBQ
Equipe Romagna (Italy)
Ravenna Calcio (Italy)
then QPR X1 at Crawley L2-0
Home to Plymouth (league 1) D1-1

Doesn't look like the perfect pre season either!

On the other hand, we also did quite well after playing Borrussia Muchengladbach (German champions), Benfica (Portugeese champions) & Athletico Bilbao!

Personally, I think pre season friendlies need to be mainly targeted towards gaining confidence & teamwork. There is no given as to whether you are better off beating teams of a lower standard or playing well (but being beaten) by better sides.

It may be that this pre season is perfect for us (hopefully), but I can understand why some might think we will arrive at Blackburn slightly under cooked.

We definitely won't be as far off the pace as the last time we started the season in Lancashire - 2006 at Burnley!

Meh - as mentioned Warnock had us playing the likes of Tiverton, seemed to work out OK.

Even playing Prem sides they'll likely put out weaker teams anyway.

AND being a week behind us will no way be going at anything like 100%.

Still in the absence of any actual meaningful results to get in a state about, the quality of the pre season opposition is good enough for erm.....pre season!

Just seen the Palace squad for Australia and the friendly at Loftus Road might be decent after all! Eze and Zaha have stayed behind for a start

Poll: Moses Odubajo - Stick or Twist?

Are either of them double jabbed because like Kante and Loftus Cheek who were refused permission into USA would imagine the same for Australia

Not sure on Aus but they're going to Singapore first and that isn't open. Nicked off of Twitter but full list of senior players staying behind in London:

Sam Johnstone, Nathan Ferguson, Marc Guehi, James Tomkins, Will Hughes, Jairo Riedewald, Cheikhou Kouyate, Cheick Doucoure, Jeffrey Schlupp, Ebere Eze, Michael Olise, Wilfried Zaha, Christian Benteke, Luke Plange

I'd imagine lack of vaccine will be the reason behind a few of those not going.

There is a severe test for our back four amongst that lot!

This suddenly looks like it could be a very good test for our last pre season game.

It's almost that he selected the team to play against Rangers before naming his tour squad!
