Effects of the Russian invasion of Ukraine Paths A and B were affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began on 24 February 2022, a month prior to the semi-finals. FIFA suspended Russia on 28 February and announced on 8th March their semi-final opponents Poland received a bye to the Path B final. The Russian Football Union announced they would appeal their suspension to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The court said “You got a few tings on the buzz man” Their request for a temporary lift of the ban was rejected on 18th March An initial decision by FIFA on 27th February had ruled that Russia had to compete under the name "Football Union of Russia" (RFU) and without its flag or anthem, and play its home matches on neutral ground without spectators. Which is ridiculous because nobody wants these scum bags in their country. By that point, the football associations of the other three teams in the path (Czech Republic, Poland and Sweden) had refused to play any matches against Russia, regardless of location, a stance to which they remained committed following FIFA's initial decision. You see when you kill children irrespective of what went on before you become scum, real proper scum.
In Path A, following a request by the Ukrainian Association of Football on 8th March FIFA postponed the semi-final between Scotland and Ukraine until June 2022, along with the path final. In the interest of preventing further fixture congestion, the other semi-final match between Wales and Austria would go ahead as scheduled in March. As Scotland, Wales and Austria haven’t invaded any other sovereign territory and blown up city’s and towns it is expected one from these three countries will go to the World Cup. Ukraine, due to Russia’s killing fields will be otherwise busy.

Maybe..but matondo is just quick offers nothing else, would rather Tom Lawrence myself,Bale I agree is not the player he was but with no legs would ztill prefer him to matondo...complete flop at Stoke and just runs into trouble everytime I have seen him..reallyhopd he proves me wrong....
He's proving you wrong in Belgium at the moment, that's the point. Six months ago I wouldn't have considered him for the squad either. Rob Page didn't. Had his issues off the field as well (Tom Lawrence similar) but a young man who is visibly improving.

2-0 down at HT. Scoreline a bit hash but definitely second best. Technically and tactically they look a step above what we have. Goal number two a real screamer.
Newport's Sonny Lewis had one long-ranged effort saved. Ben Lloyd keeps trying to do too much, either running into trouble or playing flash passes that aren't really on. A couple of bright moments between sometimes-costly giveaways. Cardiff's Charlie Crew looks like a prospect, playing a year up. Missing Fulham's Luke Harris through suspension. 8 goals in 15 u23s games this season.
Signs of poor lessons being learned by our youngsters. A lot of playing it ineffectually around the back 3 and keeper until all options are closed off. Moaning at the referee. A weak dive in the penalty area after the slightest contact. Trying to act like canny professionals where maybe Slovenia's players have just been learning to play football.

4-0 now oh dear. Mix up between Dabrowski and the keeper for their third, he was immediately subbed off, then a weak pass to the new lad got picked off and they scored number four.
We changed shape to a back four at half time but it can't bridge the ability gap. Really impressed with Slovenia. Defenders all look comfortable playing the ball out at a variety of ranges, and further forward they have quick feet and quicker brains.
FT 5-0. Next game is Turkey on Saturday.

The whole match here. Slovenia is part of the old Yugoslavia and these guys have always been very technical as we saw with Hadziabdic and Rajkovic (Bosnia) back in the day.
Wales cannot beat Old Yugo teams Serbia, Croatia or Bosnia at anytime home or away. They have a home win v Macedonia that is all. Denmark is the model for Wales. The "Welsh Way" is sadly a bit of a fraud.
The Slovenian very technical comfortable on the ball. One wonders what is going on in EFL and EPL academies. Swansea players cannot play like this but 17 year old Slovenians can. The Welsh press was a technical disaster.
Will Wales go with four or five at the back? I really can't decide which way we should go on this one? And who makes up the back line, but Roberts and Williams have to start at right and left back or wing back. Think Harry Wilson has to start on recent form

hennessey
ampadu rodon Davies
Roberts Allen N.Williams
Ramsey Wilson
Bale James
That would be my pick, but wouldn't be surprised to see Johnson instead of Wilson
We're very open. A back 3 plus 1 in front leaves huge midfield gaps for them to play into, and when one of the centre halves step out they're canny enough to run in behind.
