Not sure that is ideal timing for such a memory! Tomorrow is a must win.
33 Years Ago Today (n/t) on 09:43 - Oct 16 with 1671 views | bwildered | Now that was a long afternoon. Remember standing at the open away end then awaiting the ninth, has every attack looked like conceding even before the last five minutes ( not to shabby six goals then). Sure it was Roger Brown’s final game in charge, not before time.

Fortunately I wasn't at that game! The biggest defeat I witnessed was 6-0 at the Goldstone Ground. But to echo Gerry let's not do this today. Today is a must win game. Up the U's

Likewise I was fortunate to miss that one, but I was always lead to believe the U's deliberately threw it just to get rid of Roger Brown - it worked too.

33 Years Ago Today (n/t) on 18:40 - Oct 16 with 1588 views | bwildered | Who would have thought the late Roger Brown was a football genius, has thirty years plus on, teams are now using the football huddle from the corner kick, which was used has a new tactic by the late manager. Unfortunately defending was something we needed to work on ! Thinking of another win though, the U’s 9-1 result against Leamington Spa in the FA Cup, did give them a consolation of the best goal of the game with the twenty five yarder into the Layer Rd end !

ME! Remember late on shouting "we want 10". Those were the days of a strike partnership.

Nice one! Searching the memory banks, and as I wasn't at Carrot Road or Leamington, and not old enough (by 10+ years, sorry Gerry) for Bradford, I reckon the best victory I've seen for the U's was the 7-1 against John Beck's one-dimensional Lincoln City in '96. Sadly, I was at the Yeading FA Cup 1st Round game, but not the replay. Worst defeat has to be Boxing Day 2000 at Millwall - 6-1 and they scored all 7 goals.

Should be Christmas 1961. Hunt and King both scored 4.

Aye, correct Burnsie; a proper strike duo they were; Bobby and Noddy. Unmatched since, and what a turnround from two days earlier as you say. [Post edited 16 Oct 2021 22:15]

Yes Burnsie. I was there, and, like you calling for a 10th Goal. Bobby Hill scored his goal with his knee from a low cross by Mike Foster in the first minute of the martch

Gerry, I was only 15 then. And later on in life, I struggled to get a regular place in a Sunday League team.

My best victory was 1 - 7 Norwich. Worst defeat - always the last. Smiling today though! Hope Mullins learns something from withdrawing Nouble. Instead play him wide instead of Hannant!
