Depends on the variables - what is the ratchet if the Swans are promoted (or is there a break clause), what effect on future deals does it have if the stadium starts changing name (Liberty doesn’t have the same connotations as it’s been the name since the start and also doesn’t sound like a sponsor name in quite the same way). How long is it for. And how much. If it’s a small amount it’s better not to do it. |  | | |

Totally agree. Guy I know has had a box to entertain customers etc down the Liberty for years, well before the Swans started to really are off. Prior to the Swans reaching the PL, all his customers wanted to go to the Ospreys games and not many wanted to watch the Swans, that all changed when they the Swans made the PL when no one wanted to watch the Ospreys! I’d imagine the Swans are much more popular with the masses these days, but there’s a hardcore of Ospreys and plenty of wealthy businessmen behind the scenes.
The name should have been changed when the sponsorship deal lapsed even if has been suggested it was just to the City of Swansea Stadium. [Post edited 7 Aug 2021 21:52]
