Senedd election 22:58 - Apr 4 with 20970 views | CwmafanJack | How do you see it ending up? Personally can see labour loosing quite a few votes to plaid not enough to make a significant difference though. Can see the tories doing better than expected but abolish taking votes off them. Odds on labour plaid coalition. Constituency changes can't see many. Plaid to take llanelli and maybe Carmarthen west and south pembs with outside chance Caerphilly, Cardiff west Tories to take Bridgend and maybe one or two up north east Wales. Labour not to win any new seats

Senedd election on 18:18 - Apr 10 by onehunglow | I fear for those who would not be able to avoid to go private. The Welsh NHS is no way as good as that in England. North wales has no brain, heart or cancer centres nor specialist child trauma which is why kids get flown to Liverpool for scouse surgeons and specialists to look at. These people described by our fans as vile scum.Just saying like. |
I wonder if Welsh labour will give the figures on how many elective surgeries have taken place since the beginning of the year, we already had the longest waiting lists in the UK. England already putting in place waiting lists initiatives to reduce waiting times & I’m back to shipping kits for orthopaedic operations to pre Covid levels to England meanwhile next to nothing being shipped to Wales. Labour out.

It will. But there needs to be a grown up debate that fully considers the very difficult choices that will need to be made and the challenges and opportunities that such a move would bring. Childish xenophobia will harm the cause not help it.

Senedd election on 23:24 - Apr 10 by Kilkennyjack | Rubbish. Our welsh NHS is outstanding. You live in Liverpool. Hello ? |
Why do so many Welsh residents have to travel to Liverpool, Manchester Bristol , London and Cambridge for specialist treatment. Even simple maternity cases in North Wales have to go to Chester. How would an independent Wales treat these patients. Already the Welsh NHS is struggling to pay for these operations in England.

Senedd election on 16:51 - Apr 11 by pencoedjack | I keep saying it the vote should be 1 Do you want independence 2 Do you want to hand power back to Westminster Most pro independence people don’t even want a vote on independence because they know what the outcome will be. |
Don't forget do you want power returned to UK after we left the EU to be returned to the EU when Wales applies to rejoin despite the Welsh public voting to leave the EU and regain the powers lost to the EU.

I don’t believe that to be necessarily true. The EU and the U.K. are a very different beast.

Not really. It's fairly obvious that someone who believes that four out of 705 is worse than 40 out of 650 isn't an absolute moron. That's notwithstanding the general democratic deficiency built in and indeed, the entire point of the EU.

You seem to think that they're two different things. You can't be pro-Welsh Independence and pro-Wales being part of the EU. It's completely contradictory.

This two different things idea, they obviously are two different things. The UK is Soveriegn nation recognised by the United nations. The EU is a political organisation, not a soveriegn state in it's own right but it bosses around the soveriegn states that are members and tries to boss those that aren't members, as it did with us over the vaccines. Wales voted to leave the EU AND most of us want to remain in the UK. It's called democracy. If we joined the EU we would have to agree to sign over powers, EU law would take primacy, our financial matters could be controlled by Brussels, and don't say that couldn't happen, look at Greece and Cyprus. How is that independence? We'd simple be leaving one union to join another but (as the Doc pointed out) one where we'd have far less representation and our Senedd would have far less control but would still carry on picking up their gold plated benefits.

I know a few people who never vote, one of them says it's because it makes absolutely no difference, whoever gets in, we still get screwed just by a different ideology! I try to always vote, have missed a few here and there. I see it this way, if you don't vote then don't moan about the government. The turnout this time will probably be very similar, 40-45% with Labour forming a coalition with Plaid. That's more years of the same old stuff and a continuation of our slide into oblivion.

And I suspect those that have registered to vote will have to support a particular ideology. I've never missed an election and never will - I'm working in a polling station this year and will be voting by post. I don't think any of my 3 adult sisters in law or any of their 6 adult children have ever voted. They wouldn't know how to . I'd be all for compulsory voting - even if just to spoil your ballot paper. Isn't that the case in Australia?

Very interesting but a total non policy as only 25% want an independent Wales. Mind you I don't suppose the EU would be happy to translate all their documents into Welsh. [Post edited 19 Apr 2021 17:40]

When did he say that? Because Ap Iorwerth seemed quite keen on joining the EU.
