New balls please 14:21 - Aug 4 with 1685 views | Leadbelly | New ball in use next season, according to OWS. Apparently it provides “Unrivalled power, pin-point accuracy and instant control”. That will certainly improve League 2 football...if true.

FB. That reminds me of one of Bill Shankly's quotes when talking about Tony Hateley (Mark Hateley's father): No-one is ever sure who he is passing to. The ball should be labelled "to whom it may concern".

Hoofroyd and Mick bigger bast88d than bast88d were the chief instruments of that football style. We will see what the new super ball is all about soon. Up the U's

Love it Durham. But you never saw Kevin McCurley in the 1950s thump the ball over the Layer Road End goal, over the stand, over Layer Road and into the gardens opposite. The ball had to be recovered for the game to continue. In fact, when you entered the ground you could be sold a raffle ticket for 1d (Penny on the match ball). It was yours if you won, but there was only one match ball.

PWK that must be a record not even the Aaron Skelton netting would have prevented that clearance! I do remember the Barside stand during a particularly wet day and the guttering came down showering the unfortunates with water but worse still the rust showering the spectators was an occupational hazard. I think we were playing Crystal Palace and list 3-0. Happy days.. Up the U's

Oh Yes!. I well remember the Crystal Palace downpour. But McCurley's efforts were well known. Up the U's down the years!
