Flags on 23:35 - Mar 7 by Chief | I do wonder why Swansea, definitely compared to the other Welsh clubs (and many English clubs too actually), seems to have the more young men who want to attach themselves to the conflict in Ireland? Where has this sprung from? If anything i thought Swansea had a sizable second / third generation immigrant population from the South of Ireland? |
Correct on all accounts. 🦢ðŸ¤â˜˜ï¸ - the large amount of Irish surnames in Swansea is a long standing fact. Thats reflected in our support base of course. That said, various flags in support of our team i do get. Flags about that new club in Scotland the ‘The Rangers’, or 9 in a row Celtic, are a bit strange to bring to support Swansea City. Up to them i guess...? I don't like the half threats issued on here that people can offer no views unless they are man enough to front up to this group. Thats seemingly an amateur hour attempt to closedown the debate. Our single Union flag went up after kick off yesterday btw, must do better.

The point is you choose to confront people then you leave yourself open to a response. As for laying hands on other people's property because you don't like it leaves you open for a lot more. Think about it.

Not sure anyone has suggested ‘laying hands on other peoples property’...? Its more about the appropriateness of bringing these flags in the first instance. Think about it.

I have and if you could you would take down any visible sign you didn't like. That's more than apparent.

You will have to take that up with someone who cares. I'm just pointing out the differences, not advocating it either way. Although having sworn allegiance to the Queen and hence the Crown in the military that's, another viewpoint. As for who isn't and is her favourite son you seem far more qualified to comment. Lead on. I’m not qualified to say who the Queen’s favourite son is, but it seems to be an accepted fact that it’s Andrew.
Flags on 17:19 - Mar 8 with 1506 views | Chief | So just clarification, What exactly does being loyal to the British royal family, the troubles in Ireland and the union jack have to do specifically with Swansea City football club?

That’s your narrative. Not everyone who’s proud to be British is a royalist. Just like not every Welsh Nationalist can speak Welsh. Don’t know if you have noticed but Swansea is in the U.K. would you prefer Swansea to be playing in the league of Wales.

Thats like saying we should not Brexit cos the top Prem teams could no longer play in Champions League. Politics and UEFA are not really ‘read across’ items.

What has the the champions league got to do with the eu ? It’s not a eu league is it. Swansea on the other hand play in the English leagues. Happy to help you.

Can't see Wales surviving without the union. Well, it is Sunday evening, they used to be famous on here.

There's no narrative, I asked a question. Ok so it's not about the Royal family? So because Swansea is in the UK, you take union jacks? On a smaller scale Swansea is in Wales is it not? And from a footballing viewpoint - remember thats what we're meant to be talking about and watching - Wales has its own national football side, so surely the red dragon of Wales should be a more appropriate representation in conjunction with Swansea City FC if you do want to go down the national flag route? When you go to Swans games it isn't a military parade or reenactment is it? I'll ignore the rest, you're just making assumptions regarding my political stance that I haven't even aired yet.

So by that logic we should be flying England flags? None of this explains the involvement with Northern Irish politics either. Are we indebted to them for playing in the English leagues too?
