Happy League 2019/20 Week 22 (of 38) - Deadline Saturday 4th January 15.00 21:40 - Dec 29 with 2493 viewsmfb_cufc

Week 21 Results

ARSENAL 1 CHELSEA 2

Chelsea became the first team to come from behind at half-time to win away at Arsenal in the league since Tottenham in November 2010. They are also the first team to win five away Premier League games against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium. A great 8 got this spot-on, and 4 more had the outcome.

HUDDERSFIELD 2 BLACKBURN 1
Huddersfield are another team to come from behind to win and end Blackburn's eight-match unbeaten run. 3 had this spot-on, and a further 11 got the outcome.

QPR 1 HULL 2
Hull are yet another team this week to come from behind and win with a goal in the 89th minute. That was good news for the 3 who got this spot-on, and the 1 who had the outcome.

ROTHERHAM 4 PETERBOROUGH 0
Rotherham take advantage of ex U's Frankie Kent being sent off to record a thumping victory, as they end up playing with 10 men themselves. Nobody had this spot-on, but 13 did get the outcome.

WYCOMBE 1 COVENTRY 4
Wycombe lose at home in the league for the first time this season as they were thrashed by a Coventry team getting their first win away from home in the league. Again nobody got this spot-on, though 6 did have the outcome. 19 predicted a win for Wycombe.

NORTHAMPTON 1 CHELTENHAM 1
Northampton's six-game winning run at home came to an end as Cheltenham make it nine games unbeaten away from home. 5 had this spot-on, and another 1 got the outcome. 20 predicted a win for Northampton.

These were the final round of games to decide who would qualify for the Champions League, and they were as tough as any have been this season. Thanks to the late show from Chelsea, with two goals in the final 7 minutes, we did get a reasonable total of 19 spot-ons, but with only a total 36 outcomes, points were hard to come by without a 3 pointer this week. After going 66 games without getting a 3 pointer gerry_us put that unwanted record to bed in a big way by being the only one to get three this week, the 2-1 wins for Chelsea, Huddersfield and Hull, to make him this weeks top scorer with a brilliant 9 points. I won't quote that boring statement of you wait 66 games for a 3 pointer and then like London buses 3 come along at once. Oh sorry I just have. There were two members who got two 3 pointers, they were Blue4U2 who had the Hull 2-1 and the Northampton 1-1, to give him a decent 7 points. Also GOSBTS who got the Chelsea 2-1 and the Northampton 1-1 on his way to very good 6 points. Best of those to have one 3 pointer was oxfcolu who had the Chelsea 2-1, ant three outcomes to also give him a very good 6 points.

Champions League After 21 weeks and 150 games we finally know who the qualifiers are for this seasons competition. They are BFG as current holder. Then the eleven highest point scorers over the two divisions are noah4x4, Daniel, Sector4, Blue4U2, sevebalo, thrillseker, basher2010, Lewis_1, concordman, blueeagle and mfb_cufc. The competition starts on 18th February and will be administrated by wessex_exile on a separate thread.

Happy Cup Just a reminder for those who have yet to post their predictions, the Group stage Round 3 fixtures take place next weekend starting 4th January. All details are on the separate Happy Cup thread.

In the Premier Just the two outcomes for noah4x4 but not too much damage done as nearest pursuers Sector4 and sevebalo both reduce the deficit by 2 points by having a 3 pointer each. In the case of the former the Huddersfield 2-1, with the latter having the Chelsea 2-1. Another to benefit by getting that Chelsea 2-1 spot-on was mfb_cufc. It only moved him up one place, but more importantly it enabled him to qualify for the Champions League as the eleventh qualifier. Having the Northampton 1-1 spot-on moved RSCOSWORTH up a couple of places. At the bottom the brilliant week for gerry_us also moved him up a couple of places, but more weeks like this are required to alleviate that 16 point gap to safety.

In Division One Having the Chelsea 2-1 spot-on made sure Daniel remained top, though the decent week for Blue4U2 reduced his lead by 2 points. There is now a 7 point cushion for the top two, as the four in the play-off spots all struggle for points, but they all do enough to remain in the play-off places and also qualify for the Champions League. The very good effort from GOSBTS has him moving in the right direction again, up two places. The only other change in this league has oxfcolu, with his very good week, moving up a place, and with hope of still making the play-offs.

THE TABLES (150 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)

Week 22 Fixtures This should have been a guest pick 10 week, but that will now be Week 23 instead, as it is the FA Cup 3rd Round this weekend and those fixtures are for the Happy Cup, and that would not be fair for a guest to pick 10 from the small number of League games. FOR THOSE WHO HAVE YET TO POST THEIR HAPPY CUP PREDICTIONS THE FINAL GROUP GAMES TAKE PLACE THIS WEEKEND

SUNDERLAND v LINCOLN CITY
CHELTENHAM TOWN v OLDHAM ATHLETIC
MANSFIELD TOWN v GRIMSBY TOWN
SALFORD CITY v WALSALL
SCUNTHORPE UNITED v PLYMOUTH ARGYLE
SWINDON TOWN v BRADFORD CITY

Good luck and a very Happy New Year to you all.
