If anyone thinks we wouldn't have taken the opportunity to take over £100k a week off the wage bill, then they are seriously deluded. BUT, we were in a position to say NO when clubs asked us to pay a percentage of their wage. That was certainly the situation with Ayew, not sure whether anyone even made an offer for Borja, i doubt very much whether anyone did, and that's why he's decided to knuckle down here.

Chairman Update on 22:18 - Sep 3 by builthjack | It did make me smile when Birch said about the JA ticket prices for the last week of sale. Yes, it helped latecomers buying. But of the 1400 sold we had already sold 1150ish. So 250 , half of them kids, would have cost the club about £3-£3.5 k. That's if Leeds didn't make the offer. A nice gesture, but not really "a considerable financial cost to the club". All good publicity though. Helmet on. |
Didn't everyone who went to Leeds get something back then, not just the late ones?"

I wouldn't say what he says is already public knowledge. What he says isn't really public knowledge but can be largely guessed at if you base your opinions on logic rather than emotion. The Baston/Ayew/James/McBurnie situation is a prime example. Looking through the figures available for incomings and outgoings over the last couple of years it wasn't a massive leap of deduction to come to the conclusion that we were under much less pressure to get rid of the former before the sales of the latter, and indeed a few people said so. Birch just confirmed those estimates.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

Chairman Update on 11:16 - Sep 4 with 1413 views | NotLoyal | His job is to present a happy and successful ship, to balance the books and make us credible when the for sale signs go up. Now unless he has fallen for the city and the area and like many and has found his home, the success on the pitch is just one area of his brief. Happy ? Course we all are, being caught up in the PR and rhetoric ? ... Sure!y swans supporters have only a few fingers left to burn ? Please at least keep one for the inevitable goodbye.

Directs sport? So yep, a bloody valid question. Hopefully sets playing standards and style throughout the club and helps to put it all in place. Identifies the characteristics of players to be acquired with the head of recruitment. Tw@tter him and ask maybe? It’s a good question. [Post edited 4 Sep 2019 15:40]
