This is one of those issues we, as fans, need to trust those who are closer to the situation, ie. JFH and Les.
Whilst it seems a mighty coincidence that, 6 months out from his contract expiring, we've seen a significant upturn in performance and work rate from Junior, we really don't know if he is a changed man and would continue this form into next season.
Ultimately he's on huge wages. If the club deem offering him, say, £8k a week (probably average for what we're now offering) and a one year extension, is the way to go, I'll back them. They are closest to him to know if this is a short term, money grabbing upturn in form, or something else. Also, within financial reason, JFH and Les have to have the backing from the fans to do what they see fit with the first team personnel.
The question is, even if we offered him c. £8k per week and one year, would he take it? I would doubt "no", as I would expect someone from the lower reaches of the Prem or a newly promoted side with offer him £15k per week and a 2-3 year deal.
But before we make this decision, I think it's only pragmatic we drop him towards the end of the season for a few games and give Petrasso a run to understand whether he is a natural replacement. That would sway the decision on whether to offer something and what that should be. |  | | |

No chance of him staying as his dad wants him signing a contract similar to the one he has with us. I expect him to go to Turkey / China / the Middle East, or maybe one of the promoted Championship teams with $$$ signs in their eyes. | | | |

He is the last of the Mark Hughes era and the sooner he goes the better,he is a constant reminder to me of everything that is wrong about our club. |
No one thought he was a terrible going to be a bad signing at the time, and he was ideally the right kind of player we should have been looking at, looked the real deal at Blackburn. Didn't we even get him on a free just having to pay the tribunal fee for an under 24 year old?
Just goes to show, sometimes things just don't work out. For every Ale Furling andCharlie Austin there's a few duffers in there. He hasn't exactly been all bad either to be fair. Just hasn't developed into the player he looked like becoming. I do wonder, finances aside, if he probably regrets signing for QPR |  | | |

As Hunter says, offer him a deal on a sensible wage, i.e. one that fits in with what we can afford to pay whilst the FFP threat hangs over us, and one that is in line with the rest of the squad. I'm sure JFH, Les and Lee Hoos could sort out the right level. It's then up to the player or his agent to assess whether it is acceptable. If not, then don't let the door hit you on the way out. |  |

Either way, the fact his contract is up means he's a good gamble for a premiership struggler and he's hardly likely to take a big pay cut to stay in the 2nd tier when somebody in the premier league will no doubt offer more than we can. So I reckon he'll be off. I'd definitely want to keep him if we could do it reasonably cheaply. |  | | |
