Morning boys. He's in a good mood.

Jermaine has picked up a bad injury, it'll be a long job, could be six months.

Coll Donnolly (means Donaldson presumably) is going to make his debut tomorrow. It's an opportunity to play him at centre back.

Clint Hill is ill. Laughs. Bit of a virus. Simpson ad Dunne have knocks. BAE has had a scan, not available.

We've got a good side. Austin will play, he needs another game. Traore needs a game. It'll be a strong team.

Slurps tea.

Whoever we've got to play we've got to play. Could be Reading, they could beat Burnley. We'll wait and see.

Corrects Sky reporter on results against eading and Wigan. All four evenly matched, doesn't give much of a fck who we get. Even if Brighton get in there. Stands up and makes a bring it on gesture with his hands.

Sits down.

Slurps tea.

One or two will play tomorrow witha chance of getting in the side next week. Looking to see who is sharp and ready to play.

They've been relegated so they'll be relaxed and play better.

And that's it. 2 mins 30 seconds.

Austin playing makes no sense imo, best case he gets 90 minutes and a goal, worst case he gets injured. The pros do not outweigh the cons in this case imo

What if having that little bit more match sharpness means when it comes to the play offs he converts that fleeting chance? That's a big pro.

As said above, he could just aas easily get injured in training.

Dave, please do correct me if I'm wrong here, but I'm 99% certain it was you who was vehemently suggesting we should NOT rest players in cup games because they could "just as easily get injured in training!!

There was a big thread about it with some pointing to Faurlin and Mackie's injuries and you arguing that it could happen in training and we should field a strong team. Surely this is no different whatsoever?! A relatively meaningless game where the discussion is about the strength of team we field. Austin could just as well get injured in training.

Or has you opinion on this topic changed in the last few months? Or have I mistaken you with someone else?

I wouldn't pick Austin. It's a unique case in that we're properly, properly, completely, utterly fcked without him. We have nothing else. We'll go from having the division's outstanding centre forward for a play off semi final to potentially starting Mobido Maiga.

Not a problem with that stance.

Just found it odd that views had changed from the last time this sort of debate came up. Intrigued to understand why.

It is no different because he could get injured in training. Playing him the match isn't really a risk when he's fully fit (just not match fit). He could just as well land awkwardly in training as a match, especially as there'll be more of the former than latter between now and the 9th.

However, I get both arguments. I get people wanting to wrap him in cotton wool, so to speak. He's our most important player. We need him in the play offs. The only issue is, would you do this with him in training?? If you wouldn't protect him in training, then there's no logic to the view about sitting him out of the Barnsley game. If you would protect him in training, then you risk him playing on the 9th with a very "soft" run up and no real relevant game time/training for the full-on first leg.

Personally, I'd give him an hour, because I still think he's not match sharp yet. There were two headers against Millwall he'd have buried had he been fully on his game. We'll need this in order to win the play-offs.

If he gets injured, it's either bad luck or he wasn't 100%. We'll almost certainly be screwed, I grant you. But it could happen in training. And I don't think he's at a level yet where we can tell him to sit and drink tea until the 9th.
