Saints Will Play Wigan !
Monday, 19th Feb 2018 22:01

When the draw was made on Saturday for the third round of the FA Cup, most Saints fans feared the worst, but with respect to Wigan perhaps Saints now have a better chance of reaching a Wembley Semi Final.

It is fair to say that a tie against Manchester City away was probably the hardest one that could come out of the hat for any of the other teams left in the draw, however with respect to Wigan aside from Rochdale this was perhaps the tie that everyone would have been happy with.

So it is with relief that after their great victory that we now meet Wigan, all respect to them and it will certainly not be an easy game with the Lancashire club well up for it and they have shown they are no mugs, but the fact still remains that we are far happier heading to Wigan for the quarter finals than we would have been heading to Manchester City.

Good luck to Wigan for the rest of their League One campaign, but there is one game we truly want you to lose in March !

PS Sorry to Paul Cook for all the Skate B*****d jibes last season !

We'll get the whole of the North Stand apparently. It holds 5500 but is restricted to 4800 for away supporters. Happy ( well, happier anyway ) day's are around the corner !

Shades of 1976 when we beat West Bromwich in the 5th round and then Bradford City of the 4th Division in the 6th round. Bradford had won through the previous round against all predictions by beating highly fancied Norwich, then of the First Division. May history repeat itself and we get Rochdale in the semi final.

Come on where's the pessimism gone to? Losing away to Wigan instead of City will kill our players confidence in our religation run in. 😂 :-D

So lots of respect for Wigan I see. I reckon our chances of going through have greatly improved and respect is less important than the fact that playing just about any team on the fecken planet gives us more chance than away vs Man City. Wigan may find it hard to get back 'up' for lesser opposition or of course we may have another Sheff Utd day and simply not turn up. A match to look forward to anyway - and we need that this season!!
