Spurs Star Linked As Alternative To Promes Wednesday, 31st Jan 2018 10:48 Saints are being linked with a deal with Tottenham Hotspur as the deal to sign Quincy Promes seems to be heading to frustration with Spartak Moscow.
Saints are being linked with Spurs winger Erik Lamela if the deal for Quincy promes goes out of the window.
Spurs are set to sign PSG’s Brazilian winger Lucas Moura in a deal worth £25 million and if they do so then it will pave the way for Saints to land Lamela.
Given the fact that he has only just returned to action after more than a year out with a hip injury that required two operations, the price for lamela would be substatially less than Promes would cost, but would mean they would get a player with considerable Premier League and International experience who at 25 has the right balance of both that and youth that Saints seem to like in a player.
The cost of buying him is unclear although it would be less than the £25 million that Spurs paid 4 1/2 years ago, a loan deal could also be on the cards if Saints wanted to first assess his fitness etc.

Would 100% take him on loan (potential summer transfer) Even if we get Promes, get him on loan for the end of the season anyway!!

It's important to have a Plan B in these situations and I can think of worse Plan Bs.

We wont be reliant on him - he may only play 5 games for us but is a good option to have, creativity wise. Maybe a bit Boufal like - but with slightly better end product.

Yeah, I can just see Daniel Levy bending over backwards to help Saints out with a good deal on the last day of the transfer window. He's all heart that guy

I'd have to admit he's never been my favourite player, although he has creativity on the ball (and can score) ... he also has the dubious "ability" to make crude tackles and make "a meal of everything " whenever he's fouled... HOWEVER, if we get him on loan, and he can get his act together ... I'm prepared to be convinced anew... so why not ?

Couldn't we just do a straight swap with Redmond

Just reading we are trying to get Lamela in with possibly Lemina going the other way god I hope this is fake news, I guess we are having to dig in now as can’t see anyone coming in now tonight’s result will either give us some hope or crush it completely let’s hope for a miracle

Maybe, just maybe, the connection between the managers could swing this deal. Certainly need some good news on the transfer/loan front today.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Charlton Athletic Polls |
