Saints Could Look To Cut Price German Striker To Replace Pelle Tuesday, 22nd Mar 2016 21:54 With Graziano Pelle looking set to return to his native Italy in the summer Saints could look to replace him with a bargain deal from Germany. Saints are being linked with SV Darmstadt striker Sandro Wagner as a replacement for Graziano Pelle. The issue for Saints as they look to replace the Italian is they already have a plethora of big name strikers at the club including Charlie Austin, Jay Rodriguez and Sadio Mane so they will find it hard to attract another big signing to fill Pelle's gap. That means they will need to look at either a promising youngster or think outside the box. Wagner at 28 is no spring chicken and has played for a number of clubs in the Bundesliga after starting his career at Bayern Munich. The 6ft 4 striker has scored regularly for Darmstadt and is known for his heading ability as well as being able to hold the ball up and would be an ideal replacement for Pelle, especially as he apparently has a release clause in his contract that means he could go for around £580 k. Saints are not the only ones sniffing around with West Bromwich Albion also being linked, ironically to replace the man Pelle replaced at St Mary's Rickie Lambert Wagner does not appear to be a descendant of Richard Wagner the famous German composer, which is a pity, because if he signs the Northam End could probably do with someone who could write his own song and perhaps pen them a few more originals.
