Is This What It Feels Like To Be A Manchester United Or Liverpool Fan ? Saturday, 22nd Nov 2014 10:25 Liverpool had a fanzine called "When Sunday Comes" an ironic take of how they never played on a Saturday, now Saints fans are starting to get the same feeling. With barely a 3pn Saturday kick off in the next 10 weeks, Saints fans are now finding out what it has been like following one of the top clubs over the past two decades, with fixtures changing all the time to accommodate television. Perhaps the sign that Saints are doing well and being taken seriously is the fact that the TV companies now want to show our games, but the downside is that after becoming used to playing at 3pm on a Saturday we may have to get used to constant changes, some of them at shorter notice than is decent. So this weekend we are having to sit and twiddle our thumbs on the Saturday and that is going to be the case for the next couple of weeks with the visit of the two Manchester clubs being mover to Sunday and Monday respectively, after that we have a couple of Saturday 3pm games before another six weeks of nothing scheduled in the Premier League for that traditional Saturday afternoon spot. Indeed after Xmas the next 3pm Saturday kick off on the fixture list is our visit to QPR on Saturday February 7th, that will mean that after beating Leicester on 8th November we will go 3 months with only 2 Saturday 3pm kick offs in that time, a total of 12 games. There could be a respite in the FA Cup, but given that the weekend of the 3rd round is Saturday 3rd January only two days after our game against Arsenal on New Years day, it s likely that or fixture will be moved to the Sunday along with a fair amount of other gams. Its a sign of our success that we are being selected for TV so much, however it means that we are all going to have to get used to Saturday afternoons being empty for a while. If that's the price we have to pay then so be it but at least we know how the Liverpool and Manchester United ands now feel.
