QPR v Not Preston again Match Thread
at 02:46 22 Dec 2024

Some really great performances in that game - Smyth, Varane, Morgan - but Jimmy Dunne was fkin immense.

I think we need to come to terms with him as weird hybrid of right back and target man centre forward and credit Marti with inventing a brand new position

If the situation was reversed what do you reckon Cook would have done?

Banged it in (maybe) and not given it a second thought

He looks massive!

Surely he needs a quick win in that shape

Smyth.

He’s been brilliant in this mini revival and deserves a lot of credit.

Yes his final ball is erratic but if it wasn’t - as the saying goes - he wouldn’t be playing for us.

But he’s just scored a goal from 50 yards to win us a point in a game where we were getting battered, he set up the crucial equaliser today and ran Preston so ragged they changed their defence at half time, his defensive work is tireless and he’s a good lad.

The option of him, Saito, Chair and Dembele running at defences for 90 mins as starters and off the bench is pretty exciting. And Smyth deserves to start on his performances right now

Not at all. Play to the whistle.

Horrible luck for Cook but as a forward you slot that in

His play to set up Field for that second half sitter was outstanding

Turns out we had the midfielder that could turn and attack in our youth team all along

He’s been a massive result this season and fair play to our maligned recruitment team for getting him in. Looks like a real player

Dunne on Preston Win

For the last three games I’ve had a bet on Jimmy Dunne to score and QPR to win.

This beautiful man has basically paid for Christmas

God bless you Jimmy

My last great gig was.......
at 23:07 20 Dec 2024

Lankum at the Hackney Empire back in the summer.

Sister got me tickets and I was knackered and hanging that night, almost bailed and didn’t go.

Thankful I did, they were amazing. Irish folk meets mad guitar noise a la Sonic Youth

Smyth’s smash and grab stuns City – Report
at 18:56 17 Dec 2024

One that sticks in my mind was a home 1-0 win against Aston Villa the year we went down from the Prem (or maybe the one before)

Jergen Sommer had an absolute worldie in goal and we scored a jammy goal with our only vague attack. It was total daylight robbery

It stood out as we’d been impregnable at home for years, the beginning of the new era….

Oxford's Des Buckingham gone
at 22:52 15 Dec 2024

They were by some distance the worst team I’ve seen at Rangers for a while, although we managed to go toe to toe with them in being crap for the first 45 mins.

Mad the way that managers are no longer allowed to manage their way out of a bad spell even if they’ve built up credit.

We were close with Marti and lo and behold look what’s happened.

Smyth,s Goal?
at 18:57 14 Dec 2024

Smyth has been an integral part of this backs to the wall revival - has defended brilliantly, run himself into the ground and while his end product is wildly inconsistent he’s a 100% starter for me at the moment

Delighted for him with that goal. He made a hard finish look easy. Just totally amazed that for the first time all season he didn’t go down when the keeper brushed past him

Exactly - this is what matters, that’s a brilliant return from three matches.

We’ve produced two of the worst halves of football in living memory (today first half and Oxford first half) but we have also defended like kings and let in one goal in five games.

Being ugly and hard to beat is the right way to go when you’ve got an injury ravaged squad now onto its only fit forward that wasn’t even that great in the first place.

Fair play to Marti for setting up his team like this when he clearly doesn’t really want to, fair play to players for their defensive efforts and fair play to the fans for not moaning or giving up while we get ourselves out of the sh-t once again by parking the bus

Fair to say we’re under the cosh here.

Bristol look twice as fast all over the (massive) pitch

To be fair to Ashby he’s a very right footed wing back who is having to play left back as we don’t have anyone else.

He’s doing his best but that’s not an easy transition, he’s transparently uncomfortable there.

Aside from the Cup FInal that never was, I think my lowest moment as a Rangers fan was Oxford away when we faded away from the Championship with that totally cr*p team in 2001 (?). I think it was the night some of our fans put Ray Harford's windows in.

Sh*t weather, sh*t ground, sh*t performance, one of those games that really had you questioning the point of it all, only a few years after we had been a top quality Prem outfit.

QPR finally taste home victory as Norwich get Kolli-wobbles – Report
at 10:47 10 Dec 2024

The foul on Morgan was right in front of us, he took a hard arm to the face but to be honest I think it was an accident from the Norwich player. Wouldn't have looked too pretty on replay though, and definitely a foul at the very least

Tackles tackles tackles
at 20:42 7 Dec 2024

That’s what won it for us today. We must have won more tackles in that game than we have all season by some distance. Smyth, Saito, Dunne and Varane leading the charge. Kolli the same up front, and the usual tough stuff from Cook and Morrison.

No idea why we’ve been so passive this season but it was night and day today, we won that game by bring more physical and niggly and agressive and long may it continue. And all that without Field our tackler-in-chief

Get it up em

In the last three games he’s done a ton of hard yards when we don’t have the ball, chasing down and closing everything off.

I think he’ll come good, he’s learning what the Championship is all about. Put in some tackles and took a few licks.
