Yes - Sheff Utd promotion this season not certain at all.
Sheff Utd relegated next season with under 25pts if promoted - utterly certain.

Yep - no doubt about it now- Jimmy is off.

I get all the financial reasons and the reality of modern football. Just sad though.

Yes - this.
I was getting my hopes up when Sheff Utd signed Harry Clarke - but even I underestimate the obscene advantage that parachute payments bring.

If Jimmy does go, there is a sudden vacuum at the club - yes we have Steve Cook back, but Jimmy was particularly talismanic in recent times - from THAT Brum goal onwards.

Hopefully, we absorb this - but the gap to 22nd place suddenly feels a lot more relevant than the admittedly smaller gap to 6th right now.

If true, my only thought on this is that Sheff Utd might be in the Premier League next season but not the season after.

I reckon they would seriously challenge Derby's record low 11pts total next year in the best Southampton style. No chance of survival. Would Jimmy want to be part of that (inevitable) culture of miserable failure? I know money talks, but so does exhilaration, momentum, enjoyment, hero-worship, optimism and still good money. Everything he has with us now and going forward.

Ah...but how could you forget that Derby had 12 pts deducted that season and Reading 6? Meaning that, on the pitch, the safety barrier in 21/22 was the good ol' 47pts.
We're still doomed - Marti/Zavi out definitely.

Disagree... he's rubbish, him and his assistant.

He is work in progress admittedly, but it would be utterly ridiculous for any midtable prem club, lower prem club or (perish the thought) parachute payment championship club to look anywhere in the W12 direction for at least 2 to 3 seasons. Absolutely nothing to see here at all.

Now that Scotty Parker, Danny Rohl and Tom Cleverly - there is real class.

Massive win. Early Saturday happiness. A big stride towards changing the whole narrative of this season. Very Well done Rangers.

Captain Pugwash - not a good omen - makes me think of Fleetwood and another January debacle for some reason....

2-1 Plymouth.

I've also heard reliably that the Sir Jamie Pollock own goal in 1998 is an intrinsic factor in the Premier League's deliberations and consequently QPR will be deducted 500pts with immediate effect.

A bit of perspective please!

Strange how I can remember precise details of every cup final from 1977 to about 1993 (82 most of all obvs). Since about 1994 they all merge into one. Couldn't really recall one 21st century cup final, save Liverpool-West Ham 2006? Says it all probably.

What's your view of today's F A Cup exit?
at 19:28 11 Jan 2025

Got to say, good question- the question tonight.

I'm totally torn here . I want to feel more angry and depressed than I actually am tonight - which I think speaks volumes, having been hit for six. Probably a clear divide between the 4500 who soldiered to the East Midlands and those of us that didnt.
A shame, and something to reflect on. But a 1-0 win courtesy of a Plymouth own goal next week would wipe this completely, sadly. Back on the horse please, Marti - no 'Olly-style spirals, thank you.

Good to hear - I'm sure you're right. It just strikes me that Everton are in that 'zone' where they might look at Marti or hopefully Rohl - both exceptional head coaches IMHO. We won't keep our secret for long...

Unlike the West Ham and Luton (obvs) situations, I'm just ever-so-slightly worried about this.

I would...
