Starting 11 was as expected with the exception maybe Paal starting instead of Ashby who in fairness did alright as a makeshift left back. Started the game well looked comfortable, but went behind to special goal from a decent looking forward and it would be nice to have one of them. Bad error from Dunne in the build up. The penalty I can only imagined it was a decision made in the changing room before the game that assigned those duties to Celar by Marti, but I then will question why are you putting so much pressure on a player shot of any confidence. If it is an on the field decision I question why the hell ain’t Madaen grabbing the ball to take it. In any level of football if you are a known penalty taker and you scored your last one and you are on the pitch then you take the next one when the game is in the balance weather you are Man City or the Dog and Duck pub team. The penalty itself…well with the broken run up and the keeper moving early it was a case of rolling the ball into an empty and he couldn’t even do that. There was a spell in the 2nd half when looked nervous and could not put 2 passes together. We got 3 pieces of luck in the 2nd half.. Our goal, Varane handball which was blatant and the goal that was chalked off. 2points dropped today as I think we played well with most of the play in the Stoke final 3rd, but make no mistake Stoke was poor. When we get the ball out wide and I look in the box I can’t see where a goal will come from with out Frey in the side and with the sale of Dykes but with Smyth poor crosses it is not really a problem. Whoever does the recruitment you have left us with so an unbalanced side with 2 out and out forwards with one not being able to function in the system Marti wants to play. Morrison, Varane, Field did alright today and Saito I can’t be questioned with the effort he put in did well, but the MOM was Nardi who did what he had to do when he needed to do it. Strange subs yet again taking Smyth off and putting a right back at right wing when playing a back 4 and putting Fox in for Morrison. |

I went to the game today with low expectations realistically expecting a comfortable 3 or 4 0 to Leeds with an injury list containing what you would expect as starting 11 players Colback, Clarke-Salter, Dembele, Chair, Frey, Paal did not hold out much hope. I would not of started with the 11 Marti went with as I would have gone a little more defensive with Morrison in at centre half and Field pushed back in Midfield. I can’t really fault the performance as in theory going into the 90th minute still in the game was I guess more than even the most optimistic thought. The issue is simple at the moment as the 11 we are putting out are currently lesser quality by far than our opponents. We lack the pace of most of the teams we play against, we also lack the intensity of most teams as I am constantly seeing week in week out balls played into the feet of opposition attacking players and they are getting the time to turn and run at us and that as a minimum should not be happening. I thought those who played today did alright with MOM being Smyth. Celar is getting slaughtered week in week out and yes he is being judged by goals scored but a) he has no support b) the quality of the service is shocking c) he needs to play off someone (2 up front) So In my opinion he could be another Mike Sheron but for now my jury is out. So do I blame Marti ?it depends on who does the recruitment as I believe we have brought in players who can’t play in the system we play in. If it is him then maybe yes if not then no. The injury list is a major reason for the free-fall. I think we can turn it around but it ain’t going to happen overnight and the international break can’t come quick enough. Come on you R’s |

If I said to you at the start of the game we are playing the in form team who sit at the top of the league without our best centre half (Clarke-Salter) best full back (Paal) Best forward (Frey) One of our most important midfielders in terms of balance to the team (Colback) and a teenager making his 1st startin midfield, we would of only seen one outcome and it wouldn’t of been pleasant so in theory it is a good point, but a little part of me feels disappointed it was not 3 but I would of took that point all day long eve at the point of the sending off. The game itself we started really well and for the 1st 15 we looked really good. I had a feeling that we would pay for the missed chances ,Celar chance looked harder to miss and surprised he went at it with his left foot instead of his right. The second half after the sending off highlighted the problem we have in we do struggle to unlock teams and even though Dunne did well in winning his header from Chairs cross he should have scored. Some very good performances today, Dunne, Cook, Morgan, Chair, Field and people might disagree with me on this one but I think Madsen played well and showed some nice touches and passes especially one in the 1st half a turn and pass which took out 2 players… I said it before but I think we have a player here but he needs to adjust and get upto speed. My MOM today he I thought looked good and strong and won most 50/50 was Varane who looked quality. In summary a great team performance and a good point but gutted in our position it was not more but undefeated against 2 very strong sides Burnley and Sunderland and not conceding a goal is unexpected. A really good 0-0 to watch if you had no emotional interest. Come on You. R’s |

A really poor performance against a very poor championship side. We gave away 2 poor goals today and both down to Fox. The 1st goal he should have never of got barged off of the ball. The 2nd he got his body in the wrong position and mistimed the clearance but not sure if it was in the box or not but definitely a foul. The defence was very poor today looking very uncomfortable on the ball against a side who offered nothing going forward. We look like a very easy team to defend against as we can’t open up a side often going side to side then backwards. If I was an opposition manager I would be happy to let Rangers play out of the back as we show no creativity or willing runners to break any line. Not sure what Chair was playing at in the 1st half with that one on one. Some very poor performances across the side all in fact apart from Dunne , Frey, and Nardi. Field looks a shadow of the player of last season. I think the midfield is the major problem at the moment and will are really missing Ginger Jack and the balance , bite and experience he brings to the side. Some strange subs and the team ended up a tactical mess but that comes with it getting a bit desperate in the end. Morgan (not Fox) I will give him some credit for a young lad making his debut he actively looked and wanted to get on the ball and play but the options in front of him are non existent. In summary very poor and something need a to change but not exactly sure what think it is more tactical but ii sure if Clarke-Salter played today neither of those goals would have been conceded. The urgency with the throws was poor as time and time again the option of a break down the line was on but nobody gambled. Rolll on Tuesday v Coventry who will be a tougher test MOM Dunne i guess… Cone on your R’s |

A strange one tonight, started really brightly for the 1st 15-20mins and if their keeper didn’t make those 3 quality saves in that period who knows what would have happened. Got hit by a sucker punch, then look very vulnerable for the rest of the half which lead to us going 2 down. Pulled one back just before half time and like the 1st half the 1st 15-20 of the 2nd half Rangers played some good stuff, but Hull got a 3rd from Miller who by the way caused us trouble all night and looked quality and I would of had Santos off at half time and Ashby on as Santos was getting done every time. I look at Rangers and I can’t see us scoring many goals and the gap between what Hull could do in the final 3rd v what we can do was massive . A couple of other things the movement is poor at throw ins and also when Nardi has the ball as he seems to be playing at a different speed to the rest of the team and yet again could not fault home with any of the goals and he looks like a quality addition. We are far to open to play against when the line up contains Frey, Saito, Anderson and Dembele in it is one to many attack minded players as it leaves Field too exposed as Madsen even though he is good on the ball gives no support, but having said that I don't think apart from Colback who could fit in there as Dixon-Bonner simply ain’t up to it. He might have his critics but we are really missing Colback at the moment. Smyth very poor when he come on by either slowing down the play or crossing straight into the keepers hands. My opinion on Celar is we have brought a player in that can’t play in the system we want to play and can only play off of another forward and I can’t see us playing that way with the amount of number 10 type players we have. I also do think we are stronger than we were 12 months ago and we might need to be a bit patient with the amount of changes we have had with the players coming in. MOM nobody stood out but even though he might be a bit lightweight Saito . Up the R’s |
| Forum Thread | Millwall Reflection at 14:58 21 Sep 2024
Found it a real struggle to create anything against a well organised difficult team to breakdown today. Lots of side to side passing across the back but without really creating any openings or going anywhere. Saito did get past his man twice in the 1st half but most things went down the right and I think that was mainly due to when the ball went to Clarke-Salter there was a reluctance to drive forward instead always choosing to go back to Cook. Did not create many chances too ( really evident we are missing Chair) and rode our luck a fair few times, but we come away with a point. A really strange call to take off Saito off and put Anderson on the left who was by far the weak link in the Rangers side as he was so horribly off the pace against an energetic Millwall. One stand out player for the Rangers today Frey as he battled non stop and took his chance well. In summary not the best performance got away with a point and the unbeaten run continues. Up the R’s |

Let’s not get to disappointed by the result they are premiership and have top level internationals and played possibly not a million miles away from their starting 11. The game went as expected lots of possession for Palace but having said that not many clear cut chances and credit to us for limiting to that. Slight lapse for the 1st goal as we turned off and paid the price. I would say we battled well and Varane did that well, but Dixon-Bonner struggled in all areas, I think we might have a player in Madsen but it is going to take time for him to adjust to new surroundings and the speed of the championship but he is composed. Smyth looked lost and I think is only an iimpact player but some good performances Paal,Cook the stand outs. Eze looked good on and off the ball and his turn in the centre for the goal was different class and he has certainly moved onto another level. I forgot to Ashby looks like he can go up and down all day. Let’s also not forget that was far from Rangers starting 11. More positives than negatives and lots of evidence we are moving in the right direction and play l like that in the championship we will win more than we lose. MOM Cook Come on you R’s |

I will keep it really short tonight. A really piss poor 90 mins of 2 poor teams huffing and puffing with no quality giving us the most missed passes you will ever see in a game of football, but then 2 mins of excitement. I would say even the most optimistic Rangers would have thought there was no coming back from that, but we did and moments like that will build. A hard to beat never say die team which we need to become. I think most of us knew to stop Wednesday you stop the supply the supply to Bannan , but I count today how many times he picked up the ball with nobody around him. Poor performances today from Dembele, Anderson and Malden although he improved when he went into the middle. One player stood up today Jack Colback who was my MOM. The positives even the most optimistic Ranger would have thought we would have got something out of todays game but we did. Come on you R’s |

Right let’s not panic as it is the 1st of 46 games. Our goal was good from possibly the only quality delivery in open play from us. Team selection was as expected and no surprises in the starting 11. Poor team performance today and in my opinion lost the game in midfield as Swift and Mowatt dictated the game and where always free to receive the ball and turn as our players seemed to stand off them far too much. Dunne and Paal got roasted today and allowed Crosses in for all 3 goals. Celar was isolated today as the gap between him and anyone else was massive. I think WBA was better than us in all areas Stronger, physical, game management, movement, bullied us, and quality delivery into the box and will do well this season as they also have a good manager. You have days like this but a hard game next week so hope a rot does not set in and fans get on the teams back Hard to choose a man of the match today as the back 4 and midfield was poor so I will go with Smyth as he seemed to try and make things happen but the end product was poor or Anderson for the same reason. Those who are critical of Chair well today and a Brighton shows how important he is to the team. Keep the faith and Come on you R’s |

Strange game really not much atmosphere with the ground which I guess was due 1/3 being closed Marti has drilled them to play out of the back and it will work against lesser players within the championship but we nearly got caught out 2/3 times in the 1st half.but like I said I think it will work. Brighton are a average premier league club but a very well run club and with a couple of 20 million players that alone equals more than the total cost of our squad but even though they had lots of possession we weren’t really outclassed. I heard a few moans of that is 0 goals in the last 3 Saturday but being honest 2 of those games where against premiership opponents so I am not sure what peoples expectations are. The new forward…was not going to get much of a look in today so let’s judge him after a few games in the championship. I thought Field looked good today and Anderson was looking fitter and the keeper is good. I am sure it has given Marti something to think about for next week when the real business starts but the spine of the team is starting to look strong in Paul, Steve , Jake, Sam and Jake. No negatives from today Come On you R’s |

Don’t really care about the score today as there was lots of positives to take away from today’s game. Nardi looks like a massive upgrade on cheaper wages I guess. Defence looked good Midfield held its own considering no Field and Chair, but Dixon B gives the ball away far too many times. 1st time in a long time our back up players did not look out of place. Alfie Lloyd looked a handful. Lots of positive from today. Kollli seems to come back from injury well and looked sharp. Cook and Clarke- Salter looked. Quality as per normal but against world class players in Son. Once again great performance when you consider the total cost of our + subs probably = o ne of there players and yes the 1st goal was quality. |

One of those special nights tonight at Loftus Road that come around every now and again. Got off to flyer with Chair’s goal, but how important was Begovic save at 1-0 with Paal clearance as after that we did not look back. All the players were outstanding from Dykes defending from the front to Begovic taking crosses and for all of Leeds possession they never really threatened and it was fairly comfortable in the end. Who would have thought after Watford at home we would ended the season safe. MOM could have been any of them tonight but Field gets it. Totally out muscle d Leeds tonight which something you don’t often see. A huge well done to Marti. |

It is not often you can say in life that Rangers turned up when they needed but today they did just that. A few stray passes at the start but we can put that down to nerves other than that it was a strong team performance. Commitment, Desire and Battle was on show today. I have been a big critic of Begovic this season but he kept us in it with a fine save from Miller in the 1st half. Preston keeper proved there is worse out there than Begovic in dealing with crosses by flapping and putting it on a plate for Dykes. Hung on a bit at the end without Preston creating anything clear cut. Strong performance from all but those who really shined was Dunne, Dykes , Wiilock and Field but my MOM was Clarke Salter. Only the craziest of results will send us down now. A massive well done to the fans today for creating a special atmosphere at HQ today, but the biggest well done goes to Marti for picking us up turning us around and delivering us to the finishing line. | Forum Thread | Hull City Reflections Away at 19:04 13 Apr 2024
Beaten by a much better side today and in fairness it could have been more. Where did it go wrong? Could not cope with the Hull wide players as it was evident today playing Anderson, Willlock, Chair it left us so exposed at the back as the 3 players mentioned struggle to track back and the Hull full backs and wingers had so much time and space and the centre backs always had an out ball wide. The back 4 where very poor today… Fox stands off his player far to much by the way which was enabling to many crosses to go in. I think we also need 2 forwards playing but that is going to be a gamble as the 3 we have are poor and I am talking about Frey Dykes and Armstrong. Smyth missed 2 clear cut chances today but even if they went in I think Hull could have gone up a level. I think at 3 down I would have gone with Armstrong and Dykes down the middle but I saw no value in bringing Armstrong on so late. I think another win should see us safe but even with Rangers being so inconsistent 1 good performance.in 3 is possible. If I had to pick a MOM today it would of been Willock. Final word Asmir Bergovic needs to go next season if we do stay in the championship poor positioning, distribution and you can’t have the top earner being the weak link. [Post edited 13 Apr 19:14]

Great start to the game by Rangers and totally in control for say the 1st 20mins. The middle of the game was a total non event. We scored and then hung onto the end and that was expected as Swansea always have lots of possession. Bringing Frey on to see out a game was laughable. The luxury of where we are at the moment is that we have a little bit of strength in depth and with that in mind and after a game on Friday Marti made some changes to keep things fresh and maybe look forward to the games ahead v Wednesday and Plymouth and being able to do that will maybe help us get those 2 wins maybe to see us safe. The game will be forgotten in days but the 3 points will always be there on show and that is all that counts. Marti got I right today and well done to the boys. MOM today Clark-Salter. Come on you R’s |

After Wednesday night’s performance expectations were high but in true QPR tradition we were brought back down to earth with a bang. Lots of possession in the 1st half without actually producing anything meaningful but looking very comfortable against a very poor side. I believe we all thought it would come and let’s be patient when we went in at halftime. The 2nd half polar opposite to Wednesday’s 2nd halfand very poor especially the balls into the box and not being able to break the lines and yes the inevitable happened and Boro scored and a second soon followed. I can honestly it was poor and we never looked like creating anything and 3 points dropped against a poor side. We looked tired and clueless as the game progressed. Poor performances from Cook, Chair, Field, Frey but at a push MOM Dunne. But this week really sums up life as a QPR fan with the extremes of the highs of Leicester and Lows of Boro and the emotions of Wednesday. Up the R’s |
| Forum Thread | Rotherham Reflection at 18:01 24 Feb 2024
At 2pm the mystery we all wanted to resolved Chair is not locked up in a distant prison cell but is the starting 11 for the Rangers and that wasn’t the only surprise in store for us all after last week best performance we had all seen in a while v Bristol City 3 unforced changes in the starting line up, which left us all thinking why? I myself could not work that out. The 1st 10mins of the game was awful the playing out of the back was leading to errors the passing was poor, Hodge was all huff and puff and misplaced passes and Frey could not hold anything up leading to A mistake at the back and goal for Rotherham who in my opinion where a very poor side, but we didn’t panic and even though we did not create much we had so much ball. Halftime can and as expected changes where made and I think he got them spot on with Hodge and Issac being hooked although I would of one further and took Frey but you can’t knock his effort but if you are playing 1 up top and he is the focal point of the attack he has to stay up as he tends to chase back a bit but much and you can’t fault the commitment but you lose the out ball. Rangers got deservedly back in the game with a cracking ball from Willock through to Smyth to score when I honestly thought he was going to pull it back. The winner come from a run from Chair and a square ball across to Willock to finish it in style. Strangely I thought we seem confident and calm at 2-1 with no real threat to our goal and no nervous moments. Lots of positives today Willock fitness, options on the bench, stepped it up when needed. Some good performances today Colback, Chair, Clarke-Salter but although an honourable mention to Jimmy Dunne my MOM was Willock. No results went in our favour today apart from Stoke but we did what we needed to do today and that was get the Win and that got us out of the bottom 3 which is where we need to stay until that final whistle is blown at the end of the season Come On you R’s |
| Forum Thread | Norwich Reflections. at 17:52 10 Feb 2024
A really good entertaining game at HQ today v Norwich and probably in fairness a fair result and at the end of season we will see if it is a good point or not. The starting 11 and the bench for QPR was the strongest for us I have seen in a long time except for Field with the Transfer Window looking good for us with Hayden, Frey, Hodge, Anderson looking upgrades for Dozzell and Duke- McKenna although it will be interesting to see if Anderson, Frey can cope with the pace of the championship. The Colback finish to put us 1-0 was a good finish from a good break from Chair who seemed to go into traffic to find Willock instead of going the other way where the overload was on but it worked out alright. The Norwich equaliser and I guess Marti has got to stop believing his own words and understand we are struggling to defend corners come from a well worked Norwich corner which was a kick in the teeth to conceed. The goal to put Norwich was from a quality cross which made it easy to finish for Sargent. At 2-1 I could not see anything other than a Norwich win a couple of strange subs I could not get my head around taking Armstrong off when we where 2-1 as I think we needed a focal point of 2 and we was losing the threat of his pace. The goal to make it 2-2 came from a good ball in from Anderson and I am could be being unfair in saying did he mean it from Frey who I think could be a useful impact player. At 2-2 with Norwich having a lot possession without really creating anything but still being a threat due to them having a lot of the ball I could not understand the call to hook Hayden for Dykes as u thought it would expose us a bit. I thought a Willock, Smyth swap earlier in the 2nd half would of been a smart move. Ashley Barnes played the ref well today and is the sort of player you want on your side but when he is opposing side he is one of the things that is wrong with the modern game. The ref had a mad 10 mins at the Norwich try the break the record of free kicks given to one side. Lots of final thoughts even though they had lots of the ball we did not let them create much resulting in saves from Bergovic, the midfield is going to look stronger and more Physical with an axis of Hayden, Field and Colback , you can’t 90 mins out of Willlock and Rangers come back like Huddersfield when we thought they where dead showing some never give up attitude, more options on the bench. A special mention to the Norwich 23 Kenny McLean who I thought run the game today and we struggled to get near and stop him from dictating play. Some good performances today but my MOM was Jack Colback . Up the R’s |
