Given the tragic form of our ‘tens’ I would like see Kolli or Lloyd playing off Frey at some point. Frey up against Watford’s defence I’d quite like to see with someone within 20 yards of him preferably.
Fortunately if you’re on Twitter your algorithm isn’t constantly showing you what are presumably children insisting he’s brilliant at the pre-assist if played as a false 8.5 and that actually Smyth and Field are the problem.
I’m not an Ashby fan but I thought he was fine today. Sainz was reasonably quiet and they targeted his side for the first hour or so without much success. With a full squad we probably hold out today but the lack of depth did for us in the end. Andersen was again pony and Madsen not much better. You can’t play in that position and consistently create nothing.
Morgan looks a real player. Tough game to go into again and he looked more than capable. My MOTM of the outfield players.
Tend to agree but we have a, theoretically, very highly rated ref who will manage the game better than what we’re used to. I think the reaction to the home game was mainly Twitter weirdos and it doesn’t affect the players much. As a betting man I’d be looking at Norwich on the handicap realistically.
If ever there was a game to not have EDB suddenly in out the cold doing his Dozzell impression it’s this one. It’s Norwich ffs not Liverpool. We’re a reasonably good team when we play our game. Get into them.
Correct. Why push yourself with the game won and another in three days when the opposition aren’t laying a glove on you?
Was at that Millwall game and it was horrendous but in a different way. Swansea now are infinitely better than Millwall were that day. We had loads of the ball but never once looked like doing anything with it.
But to answer the OP, no. Fox maybe if we had more options but we don’t so he’ll be in the squad for the foreseeable future. No need to overreact though the smart money is on Norwich to pump us tomorrow given our record without Cook and there being a bit of an edge to it with their team and crowd.
Big communal recycling bins on my road overflowing with all sorts of random crap people have chucked out. Furniture, clothes (clothes donation thing is 2 mins away), books, unbroken boxes.
In a serious country you’d have Cardiff v Swansea and Bristol City v Plymouth or at least some combination of those four but we can’t trust football fans apparently. It’s like they’ve purposely made southern teams travel as far as possible on Boxing Day. All those Prem London teams and you get Bournemouth v Palace, Brighton v Brentford and Southampton v West Ham. Oh and Arsenal v Ipswich. Newcastle v Villa ffs. Forest v Spurs. I’m sure it’s deliberate from a police request.
Coventry v Plymouth ffs.
I still fancy us against Watford even if we lose on Sunday because they’re soft as anything away on a bad day but it’s a big advantage to have no travel over such a quick run of games.
The silver lining I hope is he realises the approach at Watford is better than yesterday’s and at Bristol City. Probably more so without Cook and Morrison. He’ll burn his saviour points with the fans quickly trying that at Norwich when we’re 2-0 down after 20 minutes.
If Smyth is out just play Lloyd there please. Can’t be carrying Madsen/Andersen.
Another 45 minutes where I’m no closer to knowing what Madsen is meant to be good at. I’m relieved now when the bloke plays a successful ten yard pass under no pressure. It’ll get lost a bit amongst the various dire performances and defending but that was atrocious.
People who can’t just leave your house when it’s time to go. Endless faffing about, having a little chat with everyone and generally hovering so you can’t just clear up and relax.
Easy to say with hindsight but with such a quick turnaround of games this was probably one to mix it up a bit. There’s no pressing at all. Just letting them do what they want. The sort of game you need someone at 0-0 or 1-0 to let them know they’re there but we’ve been lovely and nice.
Playing quite similarly to Bristol City who we set up for in exactly the same way and clung on through mostly luck and some guts. You can’t play this way with Cook and Morrison out. It’s nuts. No presence up front when we do hoof it away either.
