| News Comment | Genius Eze inevitably wraps return narrative – Report at 19:58:11
A perfect summary of both sides of the argument but for me you need to get stuck in for a derby cup match. We are too nice and easy to play against at times but I guess if you are skint you wind up with a team mainly made up of players haunted by self doubt and fragile confidence. We have been afflicted with having no winners in the team year after year. I would feel more confident about Millwall if we were playing at 3pm but being at home I suspect the team and the crowd will be half asleep at 1230 which seems to work against us |

Since bringing in new managers, Middlesbrough have won three in a row and West Brom four in a row. Why do I think we won't do similar? |
| News Comment | Fair enough? — Preview at 21:40:02
Great preview. I can understand despondency with the state of this country, 10 years of austerity followed by 2 years of covid and now the cost of living. Life feels like it just for the rich and QPR are like the population, hard up counting the pennies, while the rich people and Premiership clubs have more dosh than they can cope with. I was going to watch Luton v Sheffield Utd but when they said Luton didn't lose at home to any of the top 10 last season I turned over to watch Ayr v Dundee instead. For some reason, because we finished 11th, our win at Luton didn't count even though we were in the top 6 when we won there. Sky another example of greed... |
| News Comment | Chair magic frees QPR from Championship purgatory - Report at 00:12:32
Nice to come out on top of this type of encounter. Most of our games against Blackburn are dull and we usually lose those so great to win this one. I see the Stoke manager had a good moan at the ref about the time wasting of Bournemouth at the end of their game. Another one who felt not enough time added to stoppage time. |
| News Comment | City's smash and grab sucker punch stuns QPR - Report at 22:29:44
There is no doubt in my mind that we are lucky to have someone who is very fair to both teams in match write ups and does not do partizan write ups like many of the opposition which are largely piffle. I was not amused by Pearson mentioning that both teams were trying to win the game. I must have missed Bristol's attempts to win the game until the final attack. No admittance they were lucky. I think I could have accepted a last minute defeat to another team but Bristol wind me up big time whenever we play them. When we are crap they win. When they are crap they win. Eight defeats in eleven meetings with them now and even the one draw Bristol scored a stoppage time leveller in the 2-2. Then there was the most disgraceful stoppage time penalty at their place so we lost 2-1 and here we are again after another stoppage time loss. It is like we are playing Man Utd again. We get no luck against them whatsoever. Four home defeats in four seasons against them now. I can't recall any other club inflicting this on us before. |
| News Comment | Rangers run ragged by rampant Tykes — Report at 18:45:42
From what I saw of Barnsley they have the high press energetic approach that Bielsa got Leeds to do. It seems effective in this division if you have the right fit players to do the job. Leeds style is better in terms of having better players but Barnsley on their budget seem to be doing very well with what they have. |
| News Comment | Ongoing home woes stall Rangers' recent progress - Report at 20:10:58
I am convinced our quiet and polite team contribute to why clear and obvious penalties for us are not awarded. It gives the ref an excuse to turn a blind eye and not upset guys like Rooney. If we appealed for everything the ref might just give us the decision to shut the players up. I can never understand how we don't do the cynical stuff and whinge at the ref like our opponents do yet we always seem to pick up more bookings. What is the purpose to us being nice and polite if the opponents get less bookings and the benefit of decisions over us? As for getting in more quality in the right areas of the team in just a week I think I have lost any hope of that happening so at least it won't kill me. |
| News Comment | QPR and Stoke grind out dire bore draw - Report at 17:12:49
Unfortunate for the fans who went to the two games that we failed to score. All this talk about clubs having an advantage with some fans to back them doesn't apply to us. I should have turned off the TV as soon as they said Stoke had kept 7 clean sheets away from home. |
| News Comment | Lather, rinse, repeat - Report at 20:29:17
I totally agree that it is worse watching us alone in your own home on the TV as if you can see more clearly how it is shaping up. At the ground you are with people you know and get a bit distracted from the game by having a laugh etc. It is a totally different experience with nobody to talk too to ease the frustration of another typical QPR performance and result. |
| News Comment | QPR stop the rot at Luton - Report at 21:08:22
It is difficult to sum up Luton as they have only lost one of their last ten matches. In their last two away games they drew at Leeds and won at Huddersfield. They also won at Blackburn where we lose regularly. In addition they drew 3-3 with Fulham, beat Bristol City 3-0 who did the double over us and they are the last side to beat Brentford this season back in February. When they lose they do so quite heavily like conceding 7 at Brentford and suffering an 8-0 aggregate defeat to Reading. As for us we have two really difficult games as Millwall can still claim the last play off place and West Brom could lose second spot to Brentford so probably have to win both their final games. I just hope we will make a supreme effort for these last two games, especially Millwall. I don't think Millwall will get the last spot simply on the basis Cardiff are at home to Hull in the final game. |
| News Comment | QPR circling the drain after Sheff Wed debacle - Report at 20:30:34
I don't think having no fans helps. That first half display was so appalling they would have been jeered and booed off. With the fans fury ringing in their ears you would expect the players to buck up for the second half and raise their performance levels. With the empty ground and no fans demanding more from them, they just continued in the same vain as the first half. The attitude and application was deplorable. It looked like only Kakay wants to play for us next season. |
| News Comment | QPR circling the drain after Sheff Wed debacle - Report at 16:40:01
Great report. You put far more effort into your reports than the players do on the pitch. Each season we seem to create a new unwanted record. Last season a record number of home defeats and this season a record number of home goals conceded. These records get created partly because we down tools after 38 games as though we think we are still in the Premier league and don't do 46 games. As well as all our other failings we specialise in each season is our propensity to gift teams wins when they are struggling. This softness in the club feels like it has gone on for decades and never seems to stop. If Fulham and Brentford expect us to do anything in the final game at West Brom then they should forget any hope they will snatch second place. I have been following this club for so long now and have been tainted ever since we nearly won the league and then went to pot. In 76-77 we had dropped into the bottom 3 with just 4 games left. We survived and then in 77-78 we stayed up by a point before 78-79 we went down. We went from a top team to garbage rapidly. Since then it has always felt that the good times last for a season before a string of awful times follow. Perhaps we should not be surprised that we fall apart just when things are looking up. |
| News Comment | Hugill haunts his hometown, breathing life into QPR's lockdown - Report at 12:03:38
Pinner I am well aware that the players can down tools so the manager gets the blame but the conversation was mainly about the manager motivating. The comments I made about the two specific players is that they have points to prove and if they want to be in the team it is down to them to show the right attitude and perform. I struggle to understand why the manager can motivate us apparently against Middlesbrough but not against a London rival or why our team would be more motivated for Boro rather than against Charlton. I don't know the answer but I just feel that if Warburton had embraced the restart and said it was great we have a chance to top the season off with a chance to be in the play offs it might have been more of a spur to the team than what he actually said. It was the point McCarthy was making which I agree with as he has manager experience that I don't have. |
| News Comment | Hugill haunts his hometown, breathing life into QPR's lockdown - Report at 09:58:22
Mr Bowles we won one match. If we win all the remaining games I may agree with you. One swallow doesn't make a summer etc etc. I would like to think Lumley and Kakay self motivated themselves out of personal pride now they have been given a chance again in the team. I may have been too specific about London derbies because we were in a position to challenge for the last play off spot at the resumption. We played the first two matches of this mini season as though there was nothing to be gained from winning. These woeful displays suggested our manager could not motivate them to their importance. I have also mentioned Mick McCarthy pointing out that complaining about the restart puts negative thoughts in the players heads. In other words our manager may have inadvertently de-motivated the team. As a manager Warburton should have known to keep his private thoughts to himself. |
| News Comment | Hugill haunts his hometown, breathing life into QPR's lockdown - Report at 23:56:11
I will believe Warburton can motivate players the day we start winning most London derbies. For someone who has managed Brentford, I expected a better return than a 6-2 aggregate defeat. He must know how they get psyched up to play us so I expected him to gee our players up. I hope he proves me wrong next season and gets the results albeit there is a good chance Brentford or Fulham won't be with us. Good result today and I hope we keep it going now and don't ease up again. |
| News Comment | QPR punished by Leeds for lack of self belief - Report at 13:51:53
The timid toad approach to an away game is much more the norm for us playing a bigger club on paper. I was hoping that was no longer going to be the case after the start we have made but we reverted to type. I suspect the last two home game results played a part in our mentality. One thing that doesn't change is when we fail to lay a glove on the opposition, we collect the most bookings. One wonders how being meek can lead to a 4-1 booking count in our favour. |
| News Comment | House of cards - Preview at 12:05:53
Totally agree with all you said. Who would go and rescue Bury or Bolton if a new owner can't invest with their hands tied by financial fair play restrictions? Potentially about 20% of clubs in the EFL could also find themselves in Bury's position one day. |
| News Comment | Ways to lose at football - Report at 13:06:37
Lampard did say after the game they found a way to win despite not playing well. I think that was factually incorrect as it was the ref who found the way for their win. |
