| Your Report | Leeds United v Queens Park Rangers Your Report added by Geoff78 at 23:03:05 4 games against some of the best teams in the league, 2 points, 6 goals conceded (3 very late in the games) and only 1 goal scored. The defence has done ok considering we missed 2 regulars for most of those games and Sam Field has filled in well. Arguably he's more effective then than in midfield except we desperately need someone in MF who can tackle and disrupt the opposition. But only 1 goal and that was an own goal is relegation form. I think Celar has got better, more mobile, challenging more, but he lacks pace and arial (ariel?) ability and can't hold the ball up. And we aren't able to play to his strengths. He's had a few chances by now and not hit the target. Saito is doing ok but he isn't a wing back on current form, not strong enough in the tackle. Smyth worked hard but his crossing... well we know. Nardi could have done better for the second goal - he went down too soon making the chip easy. If I had to pick a MotM I'd go for Field. |

| Your Report | Wolverhampton Wanderers v Southampton Your Report added by Rich1950 at 21:14:08 I am not a fan of sacking any manager 10 gemes into a season. Past history demonstrates that it is nearly always fatal. But it is now or never. After 70% possession but NO shots on target I simply ask if this Russell style works. The answer is clear. |
| Your Report | Queens Park Rangers v Middlesbrough Your Report added by Geoff78 at 14:37:04 Grim. With 8 injuries (I think) perhaps losing this game wasn't a surprise, especially after 2 tough gigs.I know Sunderland had 10 men for the second half, but still a good team. Marti said it was his job to coach the available players and get the best he could out of them. Not easy. Madsen yet again was very poor. He seemed slow to react to every situation. On the other hand I felt for Celar. He may not be the greatest but there were numerous occasions when he looked to make a run but the ball never came. With Chair's injury we'll be even lower on creativity, although he didn't do well before the injury. A low level bright spark was Andersen as sub who looked better than he has all season. His bright spell coincided with 15 minutes in the second hand when we got the goal and were on top. The last 2 goals were the price of pushing for the equaliser and throwing on the youngsters. It has to be said that Ben Doak is a special talent who will give better defenders than our a hard time. I dread to think what will happen at Leeds. |
| Your Report | Queens Park Rangers v Middlesbrough Your Report added by garybevan1 at 13:37:27 Madsen is as mobile as me in the R block and obviously I'm sitting down. This lad simply watches the play going on around him. Saito could get knocked over by a paper aeroplane . Santos has the pace of a concrete tortoise and Celar just isn't good enough. Our scouts need shooting (don't give Celar the gun). |
| Your Report | Queens Park Rangers v Sunderland Your Report added by Geoff78 at 18:37:11 Disappointing not to get the goal that we deserved but there are strong signs of improvement in this performance. Celar and Madsen have been the whipping boys after a number of ineffective performances but they were better today, sharper and more physical although they still have a way to go. Celar's crisp second half shot which whistled past the post was an indication of what he can do, but he missed an easier chance early on. After the red card Sunderland didn't threaten but Rs couldn't create clear cut chances. Possibly the best was a Jimmy Dunne header at the back post from a Chair cross, but was straight at the keeper. Before the red card Rangers matched the Black Cats who did hit a post. Nardi has now gone 180 minutes without having to make a real save. Credit to a patched up defence. Although Chair was probably our most creative player on several angled crosses to a far post runner his range finder wasn't working. Marti could have been braver with late subs. Lloyd or Kolli (welcome back) would have offered somethng different. For me player of the match was Varane, whose telescopic legs won several challenges, and he also found space for consistent passing. I think the criticism that he doesn't pass forward has been unfair. Today he found some good forward angles. Like the rest of the team he could move the ball more quickly. I hardly remember any early bals over the top, though Sunderland did sit deep in the second half. |
| Your Report | Queens Park Rangers v Sunderland Your Report added by francisbowles at 13:00:46 Good game, I enjoyed it. Not what I had expected, especially when It saw the team sheet. Very good performance from the team, made Sunderland look pretty ordinary. Varane and Morgan stood out, although the latter tired in the latter stages. Hey, he is only 18 and it was his full debut. Madsen and Celar were both much improved and Field did a good steady job in the JCS role. We all really thought Jan had broken his duck with a great shot, that we were right behind and looked in all the way but somehow went the wrong side of the post. After the red card, Sunderland, as most teams would, pretty much parked the bus and hung on to what they had. We just lacked the ability and luck to get that one goal we needed. We now need to dust ourselves down as we have to go again on Tuesday. Squad seems threadbare at the moment with all the injuries. Even Walsh was missing from the bench and we only used three subs, which was disappointing and could be an error by Marti with the next game in mind. I was thinking Lloyd for Celar and Bennie, who did well when he came on at Burnley, or Aoraha for Morgan. I also would have removed Chair, left Madsen on and put Seito on the left not the right where he initially went. Still Marti knows his players better than me. Keep wearing that hat and if you've got any old badges you can stick on it, you can upgrade it and it might help us to make that elusive next step. |

| Your Report | Southampton v Everton Your Report added by YosemiteSaint at 01:36:30 A few observations, fwiw: 1. Coming into the season, I've had Everton pegged for relegation. Today they were poor, and are relegation-fodder indeed! (But a January cash injection from new ownership may end up saving them.) 2. Everton's offense (if you can call it that) made us look fairly assured in defense. Even when we were caught out we somehow made it look like we weren't. I wonder how long we can pretend until it becomes the real thing. Two games running of not being punished when we should've been could be just the tonic. 3. If anything keeps us up, it's Ramsdale's hands. (That sounds a bit naughty; but, truth be told, we still look pretty flaccid. [See below.] 4. We rode our luck, and took pretty much our only gilt-edged chance. Credit to Dibbling and Armstrong for making that happen. 5. We still seem to not know what to do in attack. 6. And this is the most emphatic observation: Our speed of play is nowhere near where it needs to be. I'm unsure why, but both Man City and Everton played to our pace(lessness). We need to be quicker to every ball and much quicker and much more deliberate in attack, on the wings and in the middle of the pitch. 7. The past two weeks' results have flattered us. But perhaps we can build on them. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Everton Your Report added by Bawdrip at 21:46:27 A somewhat fortunate win but we have been unlucky until today. Lots of possession with little end product. Ramsdale’s brilliant save was notable. Everton had the better chances but failed to take them. Why did the VAR call take so long? Well worked goal and we battled well though did give the ball away time after time. Still three precious points at last. I’ll be there for the massive game at Wolves next Saturday. |

| Your Report | Southampton v Everton Your Report added by silverspringsaint at 19:45:10 First 30-35 minutes were a borefest. Then we at least moved it forwards quickly through Downes and Fernandes a couple of times - more of that please! Second half was more interesting, but nerve shredding at times. About time we got the rub of the green. KWP was energetic throughout, Ramsdale showed his worth, Dibling oozed class once he came on. What a winner - so happy for Arma, great work from Suginara. Showed we have a chance to survive. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Everton Your Report added by Block8 at 19:26:48 Poor game between two average teams. We sit so deep that the gap between midfield and forwards is huge, which means Archer works his socks off for little reward. The stadium and game as a whole was given a massive lift with the introduction of Dibling and a couple of positive runs. Not sure why we played Manning as a winger when we have better alternatives, not belittling his contribution though. A worrying two minutes for the offside decision but we will need to make a big step up to remain in the PL. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Everton Your Report added by Bowlercow at 18:30:23 Fernando's is fast becoming the m/f player we wanted and the first half proved that he can comfortably play with AL and not just as cover for him When we took Stephens off for Sugawara it looked more balanced If KWP had been the one to play in front of Captain Jack instead of Manning we may even have created more chances. Was it just me who breathed a big sigh of relief when he went off? Star of the show was undoubtedly Rambo He kept us in it a couple of times and his clearances were more varied than of late Hopefully this will give their confidence a big lift Now watching Wolves v CP and hoping for a draw |
