and we have tonight

Okay, so if we keep drawing games and those below keep winning, as happened tonight, will it be enough? No.

An extreme scenario, granted, but other permutations of that could transpire.

The long and short of it is, it is worth noting what our relegation rivals are doing results wise.

Beat Aldershot, however, as I said, and I will think we're truly safe.

Donnelly was Donnelly. It was a good piece of opportunism for the goal, and he ran around a lot to decent effect.

He also never got his head up for a simple ball through to Henderson and received a booking for predictably running into someone after losing the ball. Which he also did in the first half.

We're actually better off despite the other results in terms if the bottom two : a point further clear of York and Aldershot who now occupy those positions. York at Torquay Saturday too.

did he actually get that yellow card? Looked like the ref forgot in the kerfuffle that followed.

Not sure actually. BBC say no too. He was definitely going to get one, and should have first half too.

Still, probably his best game in a Dale shirt.

Stu Ash and MFN reckon he was carded.

He probably was.

The ref got the yellow card out, but before he could show it to Donnelly, Frampton ridiculously sprinted 20 yards to shove Grant over, leading to an altercation and his deserved red.

Fairly sure that the ref showed Donnelly a yellow card after sending their player off.

The DJ reckons their player could be arrested for assault. I'm not quite so sure, but it looked stupid, and was right in front of the ref.

Most blatant penalty of the season denied us as well as the game moved into injury time...the ball rolled down their players arm in full view of the officials, who somehow didn't see it!!!

All in all, a very good game, and one that we can rightfully claim we should have won. A couple of months ago, that would have been a guaranteed loss.

It's currently the equivalent of a player edging his way to his first Test Match half century.

Dale copying Norwich who have something stupid like 1 win 8 draws and 1 defeat from the last 10. Edging to safety one point at a time

the irony of the sending off was that the offending Gills player kickstarted the whole thing by racing over in a bid to get George Donnelly sent off for that challenge.

No doubt Martin Allen will bleat his heart out after the game about the injustice but I bet they don't win an appeal.

He definitely showed the yellow - not sure why it was missed by so many as he clearly showed Donnelly the card after he had shown the red to the Gills numpty.

Not 100% true, Grant ran over to Frampton and had a little push/niggle from behind. Frampton then turned round and kicked off

Lol @ the people saying Grant went down easily.

Whatever it was, there was a lot of force behind it and I'd love to see someone take that when they're not expecting it and stay up.

There were a few times tonight when the Grant of old might have left a foot in but he acted appropriately and seems to have calmed down a hell of a lot.

*waits for red card against Sarfend*

Can't believe we didn't win that...ref and linesman were tosspots! Great performance though nonetheless. Good point which will look an excellent one if we win on Saturday.

Aye. Defo handball at the end. Ref might have had an excuse not to see it but the liner.....?!! Wtf! He didn't raise his flag for anything all night.
Also, when Ash burst through at the death, had he fallen over when caught in the box it should have been a pen. As usual you get nowt for trying to be honest. But we'd have got crabs off those officials even if he had have gone down.

All in all, a good game of football, which i think we just shaded and should have won. Fair play to Donnelly who had a good game, and well done to Edwards getting the M.O.M. He has been silently excellent lately.

Ref definitely yellow carded georgeous, last act before the throng spread and Grant got extended treatment.

There were 2 shouts for handball previously, I think JK got away with one in the second half which I would have given.

The one for us very late on looked concrete, their lad got it wrong with no real pressure and simply hand balled a hoof to the back post from us.

Not a deliberate diving save handball instead a comical, why did he do that handball, moment of madness type thing.

I was very surprised when the lino didnt raise and wiggle his flag, he loved doing so when they were offside umpteen times in the first half.

And heres chief numpty, one goal? I make that 6 this season, yes not brilliant but not bad for someone who is continually critisied by his own supporters continually. You know one season, before we had the glory years our top scorer only managed 8 goals all season, yet no players were treated the way GD has been.

Surely you're only counting the Hill era as our 'glory years', If so, it appears you've got your stats terribly mixed up, because the season before Hill came to spotland would be 2005/06 season, which we had Rickie Lambert, who managed to break the 20 barrier if I remember correctly. Still, you know best.
