They must just be pulling names out of a hat now - no chance of that story having any substance.

I think we can safely regard a website called "squeakybumtime" as about as reliable a source as Fantasy Island.

Do you know, I was only thinking the other day we could do with another Tribal Football style blog of nonsense for people to take seriously. Let's have a look at this story - not attributed to anybody and no quotes, even unsourced and unnamed for a start. It's actually one of the worst stories I've ever seen written by anybody that wasn't Shaun Custis, anywhere, ever.

QPR are rumoured (by the author of this article) to be lining up a sensational £15m bid for England international Jack Rodwell.

New manager Mark Hughes has always been a huge fan of the Everton centre-midfielder (says who?) but has never been able to even consider lining up a bid for the youngster due to transfer restrictions at his former club Fulham.

At QPR however his bosses have entrusted him with an apparent £30m war chest and have reportedly (by who?) told him to look towards younger players, who may have future sell-on value. Whether Rodwell fits that bill is debatable as the £15m required to prize him away from Everton should be the largest transfer fee he will ever command (admitting himself that his story is bolox).

Despite this Hughes is allegedly (purlease) incredibly focused on talking to Rodwell in order to try and sell him the concept of QPR that attracted the former Manchester United man to take over the reins at Loftus Road. It is thought (by who?) that the youngster would demand a wage in excess of £100,000 per week just to consider the move.

Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes is keen on not only stabilising the club in the Premier League but putting in place a structure that can push the club to become one of the biggest club’s in the world. He believes in building from the bottom and isn’t afraid to throw significant money at talented young players in order to attract them to the shores (shores?) of west-London. Whether this is actually possible — only time will tell.

Everton are well-known to be in dire straits financially and would not be in a position to reject a monster bid. Chelsea and Manchester United have not stepped up their interest in the player, who is seen by many as an England regular of the future, and now could be the perfect time for QPR to wade in.

It's because they keep getting reported on here/other forums, and then we all click on them. Didn't they do Huddlestone yesterday?

Quite what professional and personal reward people get from simply making stuff up about football to get a tiny amount of clicks and spread misinformation is beyond me.

'the £15m required to prize him away from Everton'

Look, he's a quality journalist. His substitution of the word prize for 'prise'
is so so subtle.

Its a price we will have to pay.

I think they are missing a trick, they should make the transfers more outlandish and done with a bit of humour. That would be less irritating as people wouldn't mistake the stories for fact and it would also be entertaining.
