Old fan seen a lot of football at Loftus Road and must say what really impressed me over say the last 3-4 home games is the very clear pattern of play. When they play out from the back it looks coached and practiced,no hesitations -quick passing with a pre-determined way of breaking lines whether a ball to Frey,or a 5m pass to Varane to bring Field into play off Pall or Ashby.
In one way very obvious but quite rare-basically the coaching team have rehearsed n answer to all the forms of an opposition press.
Then in attack a clear set of movements from midfield to attack-again for instance Frey to Smyth. Then a clear game plan once Smyth has the ball.Clear running by Ashby to overlap or even come inside.Smyth is also going both ways.Note Frey works his arse off to get to the back post after being involved in the pass to Smyth.
When ilias has the ball the desire of Frey and Dunne to get to back post.Player movement, patterns of pky all over the pitch
All looks coached.Really really impressed.
And you get the sense he is not quite happy with some of the play. There is room for improvement he says.I look forward to that.
I agree. Also the changes, when they happen, are taken on board by all and implemented across the board. On Monday, Edwards on at CDM then later to CB in a back three with first Ashby and Paal at wing backs and then Dunne and Paal, when JCS came on. And the introduction of Collback and Saito. Everyone fulfilled their roles excellently individually and collectively. The organisation is hugely impressive and it is going to put us in with a shot of getting something out of the game on Saturday.

Yes I was thinking that.I would prefer Marti to tell them to simply ply they have for the last three games.Just try it and see what Leicester react. They my put out a second string team.un rehearsed not used to each other.
As long as we keep these habits/systems/patterns and not revert to whatever the hell we did against Swansea, hopefully the remaining games should be entertaining and rewarding.
Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?
On Monday I sat in SAR instead of my usual spot in R Block - partly cos I wanted to look out for exactly this.
First thing I said to my lads (who'd been in R) after the game was blimey, you can see from that vantage point just how well Marti has drilled them - tho clearly there are still moments when certain players struggle to execute orders.
They are playing it very simply with minimum passes up field. Watch the Frey goal versus Luton on Monday, then watch the versus Watford highlights. Exactly the same move in the Watford game, just substitute Frey for Madsen, with a flick through for Smyth to breakaway and just fire wide.
It would really good to hear Marti and Xavi discuss these points and the recent change of system in an interview.
I know it’s wishful thinking but maybe that’s a request that could be made to Nourry when he meets the various fans/pod groups next.
Sure. And whilst we're in a sharing mood perhaps you could submit a request to Nourry that Marti and Xavi post their team sheet, formation, and tactics a week ahead of each game.
I get nervous almost every time on the passing it round the back instead of Nardi wellying it up the field. But it's working beautifully now the team is oozing confidence, it looked a fool's errand when it wasn't.
It’s improved significantly since we had movement up front instead of Celar and movement in midfield largely due to Morgan’s addition. With movement comes space.
First 15 games the lack of presence up front allowed back lines to push up and lack of movement off the ball in defence and midfield made it very simple for oppos to close us down as far as our own area.
Unnecessary two touch becomes one touch and miraculously you start looking like a football team.

You can see that in the latest training video when they take their masks off and change the ball to a Carabao Cup ball
