Should we go to war 14:48 - Dec 22 with 1182 viewsBoundy

Heavens forbid it ever came to it but we now have more civil servants than squaddies ,
"The Civil Service, cut back drastically during David Cameron’s time as prime minister, is now four times the size of the British Armed Forces for the first time. Britain has a public payroll of 543,000 full-time mandarins and 137,000 regular troops",
Vlad must be rubbing his hands in anticipation.

And their right.

Tired old rich men sending other peoples children to be slaughtered is nothing much to be proud of.

Correct, but another option maybe imprisonment or working an 18 hr shift down a salt mine or something, you make your choice and live with it

A salt mine is a great place to work. Guides in the one we visited outside Krakow, said the salt air is the healthiest environment there is

Even your hero Churchill was against war, so it is a very strange question to even ask …..shirley ?

The next war , if it happens, will render numbers of squaddies almost insignificant as a nuclear exchange will kill as many as you might want to put in uniform - its a zero outcome game..

The only hope we have is in a technological advantage where enemy systems can be blocked, and our drone technology can get the better of our enemies. So the logic of your arguement supports more people defending us from behind their desks than ever before.

It probably makes India and China very likely to prevail.

It will not be won by more plucky squaddies cos its not 1939 anymore, is it ?

When reading the odd post of yours I'm always of the impression that you're aged about 12 ,if not then perhaps just extremely immature
Not sure what war Britain started but I'm pretty sure we won more than lost and not because we were the aggressor.
In case you as it seems you have there's a certain war being fought ,some may say on the west behalf and that war MAY turn out to directly affect the UK which in turn will involve the deployment of military on the ground ,you know the ones we currently have .The title of this thread was retorical, look it up you may educate yourself.

Killys ok
His take on Britain is different to mine and yours . We’ve crossed swords many times but like the Good Friday agreement ,we have now peace . However , my contempt for much what he opines still remains but it’s pointless expressing my views as they would certainly invoke a permanent ban .
It’s not easy being who I am with so many followers and being the must read poster I am,the one who has been the most prescient on here .

Well the current military deserves far better than the idiots in charge in govt getting us into a nuclear exchange.

Churchill said …’jaw jaw, not war war’ and he was right.

Somebody said …..’i don't know what weapons will be used in WW3, but WW4 will be sticks and stones’. Chilling.

The old mantra "judge a man by the company he keeps" Good luck in your quest for fame but you'll have a battle on your hands with quite a few posters vying for the title and justifiably so.
