Bidwell and Roberts were more than competent. They would have been good in a Martin team.

The only reason Russy wants out is because he thinks Southampton is a better job for him, just like he walked out on Milton Keynes to join us.

Who knows, he might have been told his card is marked and he’s out on his ear hence no signings in January. Don’t blame him going tbh, he’s copped a load of grief and it’s potentially a short career, he’s got to make his cash while he can.

Call me old fashioned by why do managers not finish the job they started. Martin talked about a process and developing a team that can compete at the top of the table. Then at the point of success he jumps ship. Brendan completed his project with the 0-3 win at Fulham and the 0-0 at Liverpool the validation of his work. Martin is a painted who has not finished his job. Swansea expected him to get it sorted in one season but Martin wanted three but left after two. People can say he was not backed but he was. The US people were amazingly patient with him. Martin wrote his own script and fans as usual bought it. He never criticised the owners directly he did not need to. He wanted a striker and he got Whitaker. He then did not play him meaning he did not need a striker. Martin wanted a quick fix. Swansea is not a quick fix club

He was luckiest manager in all the football league to have kept his job between November and March. Martin was given (buys, loans, returns) 30 players. Some hopefuls, some he wanted, some he wasted. Why would anyone back him beyond the agreed level. And, once over his hissy fit it became clear the squad was more than good enough to have made the playoffs.

Exactly. We have lost far better managers than Martin. I hope he’s gone soon. Are the players who want to leave in the Russy cult along with some of our fanbase?

I’m assuming it’s reference to Martin’s mental health which he was extremely honest about recently after January. Sad really.

Innit, some people have no idea how things can get on top of you. Respect to Martin for opening up, its the hardest thing to do 👠

I think he was playing there out of necessity, rather than a career conversion

Exactly. He would have probably stayed if they had upped his cash a bit and gave him a few assurances about getting some players in. Why on earth would he stay otherwise? Especially with a rich club like Southampton after you. Makes no sense to stay, no matter how much you love it.
