Swansea City v Hull City : Matchday Thread 2021/22 *SATURDAY UPDATE on 12:41 - Sep 12 with 1356 views | snertos999 | We recruited a manager who took MK Dons to 13th in Division Three. That is our level of ambition coming from the top down. Imagine going to watch MK Dons in that time. You would have walked away 50 out of 80 times without seeing a win. In 19 seasons since their inception to when Russ was there, 11 of those saw a higher finish than 13th. They are also seemingly benefiting from the end of Russball being 5th in League one and unbeaten in their last 5 league games. Since when does someone from a more junior post than the one he/she is applying for gets the job even though they have been performing under-par in that role and have no previous experience of the role in which they are applying for? (The Championship) I think he 'smooth talked' his way into the role when the board got desperate. And where is the sense in letting the whole world know you are going to play a certain type of football no matter the opposition? Sounds like the definition of naivety/insanity to me.

He seems a bright man, clearly enjoys the game. I’m happy to back him providing we are seeing some results, but not happy to gamble the club on him that “it may come good”. His CV hasn’t earned that right, I don’t believe in blind faith. Things need to improve. We have spent ALOT of money this season to bring in players he wants.

Oh this is so true. It really does show how the owners have lowered our expect ions, our dreams and hopes. We really do need to get shot . It is all about them Martin is a nobody really. MK Dons . Think on that Think hard . We have fallen so far so swiftly it hurts like hell ,far more than the pain spoken of by Martin.

Who had Cooper managed before, what about Martinez, what was Rodgers record? For added perpsective, when Martin took over at MK they were in the relegation zone and he took them up to 13th, a vast improvement on what went before. Then consider this, the MK fans were spparently really upset at the though of losing him. It's a funny old world when people aren't allowed to be promoted. Rodgers again, should Liverpool not have given him the job because he came from a lesser club? Cooper, an under 17's coach, obviously should never have been tried. It makes no sense, specially as we can't afford to go out paying big bucks for proven performers and besides, which proven performers would come here? Our expectations haven't lowered either, we still want to rise up the table, oush at promotion, saying otherwise flies in the face of the evidence.

Swansea City v Hull City : Matchday Thread 2021/22 *SATURDAY UPDATE on 09:16 - Sep 12 by Whiterockin | I find that watching matches on tv don't give you the full picture. I entirely agree with this statement. You need your own eyes to see the whole pitch and picture of how play is panning out. I have seen over the years the people who complain the most and often rely on stats to back up their argument, are often the ones who rarely attend the live matches. I would say that when leaving yesterday the majority there were very pleased with the performance and felt we were unlucky. |
Todays Sky match Leeds v Liverpool, Neville commented " for the sake of those watching at home I should point out Bamford's runs and movement off the ball are very good". T.V. pictures are undrstandably focussed on the ball and tbe players around it. They do not show the movement and positioning of players who are nowhere near the ball and not involved in the action. That would be boring to watch on tv. I rarely go to Swans away matches ( far far less in the last decade, for a variety of reasons ) , but luckily I get to watch the away games on tv. I prefer tv to listening on the radio, but neither come close to getting a feel for the match, players hunger, movement , positioning, to when I see them live at home. Maybe it's just me. Stats and power points and percentages, I prefer to see live and draw my own conclusions. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Jose Mourinho started as an Interpreter for Bobby Robson. Never been a manager before getting Benfica managers job, resigned after 9 matches and was manager of Porto 2 years later. All managers have to start somewhere, Russell has more experience as first team coach than Mourinho did before going to Benfica. He had some great mentors I grant you. But I guarantee some here would be moaning if we had appointed him, having had no first team management experience just being an assistant. Many inexperienced managers, complete novices have done very well for the Swans over the years. Let's give him time before we hang him out to dry.

You can't argue with the above, surely. (One of the reasons that I joined this forum was to read comments, discussions and debate from fans who regularly attend the matches. I know many of you have been doing so for years. Respect).

Watching players off the ball, how they understand the game plan and behave on the pitch. I do remember an ex swans player telling me the behaviour of a player on the bench when substituted turned Frank Burrows seriously against him. Had he come to Swansea and behaved like that Frank would have booted him all the way back down the M4. So, your point for me is spot on.

I would imagine the person at home responded with, “don’t worry Gary, I can see them”. So if we go back to what I said in my post, what was it that I said that is being disagreed with exactly? Or are we genuinely at a point where the truth is so uncomfortable that we are treading the utterly ridiculous “you saw it on TV” argument? [Post edited 12 Sep 2021 22:24]

In School / Uni there are some great teachers and professors and lecturers who make lectures interesting and engage students, then there are your type Dr who switch off students and people become disengaged. Learn nothing. Stop listening. Not turn up to classes or lectures. It is a shame and no doubt a waste of your talent and intellect. Obsessiveness. If only they had a personality then the stats and powerpoints may prove of interest to some. Unfortunately, some dont and switch people into snooze zone zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Luckily I dont employ the boring poor lecturers, and by all accounts they are impossible to get rid of until they retire, so colleges have to employ them and put up with their self delusions and poor teaching practices FOREVER, at the cost of poor student learning.

If I was paid to teach you then I would try and engage you to the information you were being told. However I am not. Until I am, you will have to just find your own motivation to improve your understanding of what is going on, or indeed the drive to keep yourself engaged for someone else to tell you Nobody can make you learn. Only you can do that. Nobody has given stats or PowerPoints, what you replied to was me giving a factual breakdown of what happened in the match that I saw with my own eyes. You haven’t challenged a single point I made.

Well the last sentence is wrong for starters." Really isn't many excuses not to be putting some noteworthy points on tbe board " Your comments are just negative and boring and often incorrect. Like many before me, I throw towel in and will chat with fans who can make their opinions from watching the matches rather than relying on computer analysis, tv commentary, internet staristics. The “last” sentence “for starters”? The fact you got through it and only picked out the last sentence suggests that is the only part you disagree with. Not only have you only managed to pick that one sentence out, but also failed to tell me how that one sentence is incorrect. Relegation season aside, we have spent the most amount of money we ever have in a single season in the football league, including retaining key players from back to back play off teams… no successful Swans manager has needed months to get results on the board. And you think me saying there is no reason we can’t be showing acceptable results, is incorrect? Interesting. We are coming up to 15% of the season behind behind us now. When should we expect to see some acceptable results then? 25%? 50%? 75%? 90%? If you mean you would prefer to talk to people who know far less about the game and present far less of a challenge to the narrative you find more comfortable - then I agree, I think that may be a wise move from you at this stage. It isn’t incorrect, history tells us that not a single successful Swans manager in the last quarter of a century has needed months and months to put decent results on the board. It’s not an opinion, it’s a fact. You don’t have to read what I write at all. You can have some self restraint or indeed just read the posts from people you think aren’t going to say the truth in order to play into the fantasy being created. You can help yourself.
