Is it Palace for Eze? 10:48 - Aug 13 with 67984 views | NorthantsHoop | Yet more paper talk about Palace discussing buying Eze this morning. If it is all true, they do seem to be showing the most firm interest. Reckon if they up their bid to around £15m to £16m cash plus add ons to £20m we may bite. Don't think it would be a bad move for him, likely to get game time and the step up in the Prem with a mid ranking club. If he improves there then possibility of a bigger club next. Got to get a decent % sell on clause in the deal.

Is it Palace for Eze? on 09:11 - Aug 26 by Maggsinho | Although that works both ways so if we were to spend some of the money , eg £2m for Dickie, we'd structure that deal to spend £500,000k over the four years or similar. |
Absolutely. And £4m coming in, with £0.5m going out (even 1 or 2m), would be a great example of controlled spending. My fear is some people are just going to assume we suddenly have 15m burning a hole in our pocket to go and buy 5 players. And with that will come different expectations and demands placed on the club.

Well he really skimmed loads of players last season, he was pasteurised before you even knew it

Quite simple really, he is worth a lot more than that

Don't know about accuracy but earlier reports were saying we wanted a large chunk of cash up front, so we don't get late payers on installments like, allegedly, West Ham.
Is it Palace for Eze? on 10:19 - Aug 26 with 2888 views | ed_83 | Assuming Dave Mc and Sean Gallagher's figures are accurate, this seems like a good move for all concerned. Would have been nice to get £20m upfront, and certainly think Eze's worth it given what other players go for, but £15m plus add-ons seems pretty reasonable under current circumstances. It's great to see us getting this done relatively early in the window; Eze's got the perfect opportunity to take the next step up in his career; and Palace have got an absolute superstar in the making for a very decent fee. Sad to see him go, but this is the model we have to aim for now.

Is it Palace for Eze? on 10:42 - Aug 26 with 2713 views | rsonist | Think we're all agreed twice the fee to a club twice the size wouldn't have been out of order. Small problem is the bids have to be more than imaginary. Don't see how anyone can credibly argue the club haven't played the cards in hand best they could.

Exactly, decent fee and there is a long history of buying and selling between Palace and QPR. I will be following Mr Eze's career with much interest, enjoyed his time as a QPR player and a fantastic talent. I still maintain he is one of the best players I've seen in the hoops since I first starting going to Rangers 45 years or so ago. [Post edited 26 Aug 2020 10:56]

Is it Palace for Eze? on 11:15 - Aug 26 with 2383 views | connell10 | 15 million is to low for him , we know it the club knows it and Palace know it. But we are desperate for the cash so that's it . Do I think it's a good deal if true no. Maybe the money will go to pay of off some of the clubs debts who knows.

Is it Palace for Eze? on 09:06 - Aug 26 by nadera78 | Just to calm everyone's expectations a little - it used to be standard that transfer fees were paid in instalments, usually over the life of the contract the player had signed. If that's still the case then we'd be looking at around £4m a year coming in over the next 4 years. Plus any extras. So I wouldn't expect to see us going crazy with the cheque book. |
That is true, but also means any player we signed would also be in instalments

But we have to pay HMRC the Tax on the full sale price of Eze up front (i.e. £15m), so the first installment may be swallowed up by that - we won't be cash rich!

Assuming we make a profit yes but this will probably just reduce losses so tax is probably not applicable.
